dave mcbride Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Now that was a helluva pick by Smith/Nix - 4th round in 2005. Since Nix oversaw scouting, I assume he deserves some credit for that one. He's leading the league in all purpose yards, has 81 catches, and is averaging 7.0 ypc rushing.

Good to see him still kicking butt! He was a blast to watch in college.

Acantha Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 He's small, but he has a solid core and very thick thighs. I think he's built solidly enough. He's certainly proven he can handle it. I just remember thinking he was TINY when I saw him play college ball. Didn't think he'd stand a chance in the NFL.
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 2,200 all purpose yards in 4 straight years. Might be having one of the quietest HOF careers in NFL history.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I took Sproles with the last pick of my dynasty auction league, for a contract price of $1. He was one of the top RB's in our league (PPR). It was dumb luck by me, but Sproles is a money fantasy player in PPR leagues-- he must get 7-8 receptions per game.
Maury Ballstein Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 It helps to have Drew Brees throwing to you. It also helps Brees....when Sproles makes big plays all day.....Sproles is a stud hands down KR, RB Mr. Do it all....
jjmac Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 It also helps Brees....when Sproles makes big plays all day.....Sproles is a stud hands down KR, RB Mr. Do it all.... Brees was putting up big numbers before Sproles went to the Saints.
NoSaint Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Brees was putting up big numbers before Sproles went to the Saints. Sproles was no slouch either
San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Sproles was no slouch either Yeah he was productive in San Diego too. I get the feeling that Sproles is one of these guys who's a better turf player than a natural grass player. It seems to accentuate his explosiveness.
jkrules Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I read or heard somewhere that Brees actually talked Sproles into going to New Orleans. Take note Buddy, good players attract other good players.

Take note Buddy, good players attract other good players. Yup. Much like merriman brought Barnett. It snowballs when you get guys. Probowlers spend a week together getting to know each other. Of course brees and sproles were teammates in SD too, but you get the point.
truth on hold Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 It also helps Brees....when Sproles makes big plays all day.....Sproles is a stud hands down KR, RB Mr. Do it all.... It helps both that their oline is so good at run and pass blocking.
Mr. WEO Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Sproles was no slouch either He was also "NoSaint". Barnett was a great pickup, but the Merriman connection is dubious. When Detroit took someone else (Tullich?), the Bills were Barnett's likely only option. Edited December 29, 2011 by Mr. WEO
Max997 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 would like to see the Bills use Spiller like that next year in combination with Fred...no reason they both cant get touches

I'm not going to look it up and provide a link but I remember reading Barnett saying that talking to Merriman had a effect on him coming. I'm sure there are teams out there that could have used him this year. Options may have been limited, but we were not his only choice.
