Lord Chinfist Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 Now that the Broncos won last night, we definitely need them to lose next week vs the Colts. The problem is, the Colts may have nothing to play for next week and may be resting their starters. However, if the Patriots lose, and the Colts win, the Colts will have something to play for as they will still have a shot at securing the 2nd seed and have a first round bye. So then we should root for the Jets, as the Colts will be more likely to beat the Broncos next week. However, if the Patriots beat the Jets, we are just one game behind Jets (assuming we beat the 49ers), and the Jets have to play the Rams next week, which could be a tough game for the Jets as the Rams may be playing for the last NFC wildcard spot. How does our playoff situation look if we are tied with the Jets? The Colts-Chargers is at 1, the Jets-Patriots game is at 4. If the Colts win, do we root for the Jets?

So the Colts should have an idea before kickoff (or during the first quarter whether the game will mean anything).
Lord Chinfist Posted December 26, 2004 Author Posted December 26, 2004 ATBNG, I did not realize the Pats play at 1 next week, and the Colts play at 4. The Patriots will most assuredly beat the 49ers, especially if they know they are playing for the first round bye. I was assuming the Colts and Patriots would be playing at the same time. So it does not look good as far as that goes.

So a Jet collapse would five the Bills a backdoor into the playoffs in case Denver, Jacksonville or Baltimore doesn't cooperate.
njsue Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 The jests will be beat by the Brady bunch. LT will run all over the overrated Colts defense. UPSET SPECIAL HOUSTON OVER JAGWADS. Who better to set them up then Dom Capers.
udonkey Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 We gain nothing from a Jets victory. Go Patsies!
cåblelady Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 We gain nothing from a Jets victory. Go Patsies! 178105 Agreed. Besides......I hope the patriots cream the jets so I can throw it in the face of the "sports" director at WBNG. :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:
Hammered a Lot Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 Dislike saying but you should root for the pats over the jets.
whut u talkin' bout....? Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 jets lose colts lose bills win
Albany,n.y. Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 I am rooting for a scoreless tie. 178109 Don't: Jets & Pats both clinch positions with a tie & basically wipes us out of the playoffs. With Denver winning, our best chance is beating out the Jets. There's no way that Indy will need the game because they lose the tie breaker with NE & if the lose to SD they're locked into 4. Remember how many tank games Polian presided over as GM with the Bills when we had our playoff position locked up.

He'll want it next week and he'll also want to hit 50 passes. Denver truly stinks Indy would have to play with 8 guys to lose to them.
njsue Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 Gangreen needs to win today to get a playoff spot.
nodnarb Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 there's no debating who to root for. are you kidding me? if the jets win, they're in. We don't want them in, therefore... any hoping that the steelers have a meaningless game against us is for pussies. the bills can beat the steelers straight up. if you don't think so, why would we even want them in the playoffs? the bills are GOING to finish 10-6. We need to hope the Jets do too. And only one other team can finish with 10 wins. This will most likely be the Broncos. The Jets could be the BIlls back door, cuz we hold the tie breaker assuming we finish 10-6.
