ICanSleepWhenI'mDead Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) Only skimmed this so far - - not sure if the loan program is of any use to us because if Ralph again successfully demands that the county/state pay for all stadium renovations, he has no reason to apply for a loan from the NFL to pay for Ralph's share of the stadium renovation costs (because the team would have no stadium renovation costs). http://www.10news.com/news/30005718/detail.html National Football League owners revived a defunct stadium loan program Wednesday, which could provide $200 million for the Chargers to build a new venue in East Village that's estimated to cost $800 million or more. * * * * * With the Chargers, 49ers, Vikings and competing developers in Los Angeles proposing new stadiums, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said construction money will be distributed based on projects' private investments. "They’ve become more complex and more expensive in these markets and we had to adjust our policy to participate in these projects and support these projects both at the club level and league level," he said. Helping the league's ability to build more stadiums is a new extension of its TV broadcast deals. Goodell announced Wednesday they were extended through 2022. http://www.startribune.com/politics/statelocal/135632458.html The NFL commissioner also said a decision on locating an NFL team in Los Angeles -- a possible new home for the Vikings should a stadium not be built in Minnesota -- would likely not be settled in 2012. "I don't think we'll be in a position to make that decision by 2012," he said. http://media.signonsandiego.com/news/documents/2011/12/14/NFL_on_its_new_stadium_loan_program.pdf Note that the revived loan program contains some sort of restrictions on its use relating to team "relocation" or change of "home territory."
