The Summer movie Season of 2012 will be dominated by the likes of "The Avengers", "Men In Black 3" "The Amazing Spider-Man", and "The Dark Knight Rises". However, there are always other offerings that studios will have lined up that might not be as big on the radar screen as of yet. Here's a little look at what else to look forward to next summer.

5/11

Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy, "The Dictator": http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3294207513/

6/1

The broadway musical sensation, "Rock of Ages": http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi643538457/

6/22

Disney/Pixar's latest original animated adventure, "Brave": http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi924163609/

6/29

The real american hero sequel, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation": http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1448713753/

They're actually doing a GI Joe sequel? It wasn't a bad movie (actually good, for what it was: shallow, insipid fun). But I didn't think it had the box office numbers to warrant a sequel.

What's the next toy franchise after Transformers and G.I Joe run out of steam? I've got my money on Pixar doing anthropomorphic Slinkies.

The first G.I. Joe movie made $170 million, so a sequel was not out of the question. This sequel appears to have a more serious tone.

Dark Knight Rises

Sorry for the story that goes along with it at the link. That's the only one I can access here at work.

Can't wait. Thanks for posting.

I'm sure many football players are comfortable watching the field get destroyed like that.

It'll be a bittersweet moment when this movie is released. No more Christopher Nolan Batman movies.

Then what will DC do?

I know they're doing a new reboot for Superman. Some of the casting looked interesting on that one.

And speaking of the football players, I'm pretty sure that was Hines Ward in that trailer. I know they filmed a lot in Pittsburgh.

I thought the first GI Joe film was entertaining, although it didn't really trigger much in terms of nostalgia for me (which I really thought it would). That trailer for the second one looks pretty good. You can never go wrong with the Rock

I had no idea they were making another MIB film...Josh Brolin looks EXACTLY like a young Tommy Lee Jones in that trailer, but not sure if the concept is going to work. Time travel has been done to death, and even though I tend to like that concept, I'm not sure it will work here...I'll probably let reviews from fellow TBD'ers dictate whether that's a theater trip or dvd rental.

And I totally forgot about Sacha Baron Cohen...the most polarizing figure in comedy! I'm an unabashed Cohen fan, so I can't wait to see this offering. I tend to prefer his less scripted efforts though, so not sure how this will come off. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the Freddy Mercury biopic, which I think has begun production. That has the chance of being an amazing film, and he's perfect for the role.

Speaking of tidbits, I just read a report that the producers for the Bond franchise are close to securing Daniel Craig for a five film deal, in addition to the Bond flick that comes out in 2012 (Skyfall). I don't know about you guys, but this is great news to me. I grew up on Bond films and Craig has already become my favorite to play the role.
