I heard where it woulda been a full marathon but they didn't want to sell the naming rights so the race was shortened on account of the shoestring budget.

I think you misunderstood. A half marathon is the average amount of yardage put up by the opposing offense. They might make the full marathon but all those kneeling plays at the end bottle up the works.
