BuffaloBill Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 How about a homemade coupon book, with coupons for a free hug, take out the garbage, etc? I could not imagine the reaction from my wife if I gave her this .... it would not be good.
Nanker Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Not sure if you've given her any of these before, but here are a few ideas. A pair of brass candlesticks and box of tall candles (wifey and I invariably eat dinner by candle light at home). A set of Riedel wine glasses (alternatively, get an engraved set at Williams Sanoma or Villeroy & Bosch) A pair of Waterford champagne flutes A watch A pair of diamond earrings or a necklace or a bracelet An iPad2 A mozzarella cheese making kit from Ricky (hey, we had fun with it) A pair of flannel jammies An amaryllis plant in a nice pot (paperwhites are nice too) or something else from here If she likes to garden - a nice pair of one of these I still owe you Mead for your tip from two Christmases ago. We did it again this year and just dropped the things off. Kudos to you. It's a great and brilliant idea. Thanks again.
GoodBye Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I could not imagine the reaction from my wife if I gave her this .... it would not be good. Even if you accompany it with something reaaaaly nice? Homemade gifts are awesome, IMO.

Well I,m pretty well covered this year she got a new house in her hometown, many new pieces of furniture to go in this house and is about to get a new car (though this is because I wrecked hers). Next year will be a new challenge.

BuffaloBill Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Oh, well, it sounds like you are covered for a few years with all that! Good luck next year! I will say as we get older "stuff" is far less important. Time with friends and family is as precious as it gets. We both went through the life lesson of seeing her mother die with cancer. It was a long road and a very remarkable example of how little value things hold. Not to say people shouldn't enjoy life or what they have it's about perspective.
Jerry Christ Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I know I might be young but I've been with my wife for 10 years, 5 married. This year I got her.... A smartphone A Paula Dean 20 piece cookware set Black Diamond Ring and I added one of those high heel ring holders (lol) I got her a charm bracelet and added charms that are special to her in her life ie symbolic. I got her 2 shirts and a hoodie that she'll like a scarf. A new wallet since her's is getting old. and I got her a lil black dress..... and I got her some stocking stuffers (besides me, bad joke) but I think she'll like it.....=]
