freester Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) If Edwards get fired, it will be difficult for Gailey to hire a proven DC since Gailey will have no job security. Unfortunately I don't think Buddy will be gone till Ralph dies. I think the most likely scenario is that Edwards is fired and Waanstadt become DC. Hopefully this will involve a switch to a 4-3 defense. Edited December 5, 2011 by freester
Dorkington Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 If it were me? I'd fire everyone based on the performance of the last two seasons. But the problem is, the people who run the team above GM (the money handlers) also need to be run out of town. So until that happens, making coaching, gm, etc changes really doesn't matter. We'll continue to lose as long as we have the same owner and associated people.

If I were as old and wealthy as Ralph, I'd think I would have all the urgency in the world to win a superbowl before passing on. I just can't imagine it is gratifying to keep losing even if your pile of money keeps growing... Is he is saving up for a new fleet of jets or something
Rumblinstumblin Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Changes need to be made if you lose 9 straight, I think that is common sense; but this is the Bills.
DDD Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) I doubt it. As Ralphie insists on promoting within his inept organization, who will take over? And don't say Whaley...the only thing he's known for is emailing porn. Edited December 5, 2011 by Mr. Wonderful

DrDawkinstein Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Edwards needs to go, maybe even more of the Defensive staff. But Nix, Gailey, and others should be safe. What Id like to see is another couple years with Nix, and then promote Whaley to GM. Let Whaley then decide if he wants to bring in another coach, or what. But we need to keep stocking up on talent via the draft so if we do change coaches, we dont have to replace all 53 guys again.
n3wyork13 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 LMAO at the porn emailing!!As for buddy getting fired...Fat chance at that idk if id fire him yet give him a year or two more....problem is we have gone through so many coaches gms and scouting personel that everytime someone comes in the players on the roster that are there dont fit what the new rigme is trying to do....
LabattBlue Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 IMO, they won't fire Nix. Instead, if he doesn't "retire" this off-season, I think he goes after the 2012 season. I know there are exceptions, but guys in their mid 70's aren't made to be GM's in the 24x7 365 day a year NFL. Just another stop gap measure brought to you by the 3 Stooges...Wilson, Littman & Overdorf.

Hopefully this will involve a switch to a 4-3 defense. I don't think it will be hard to hire a DC if Gailey has no job security. (which is an assumption, if Nix is there Gailey is there). But assuming that is correct, I think it would make it easier to get a DC because if the D did well under him he would be a top HC candidate if Gailey was fired at some point. But I agree, Wanny is the most likely D coordinator (for a long variety of reasons); if not, I hope we get someone like Del Rio.

Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part, but I believe the plan is to eventually hand the team to Whaley. Which, going off of our last draft, I wouldnt mind so much.

apuszczalowski Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Less then 2 seasons and we are already talking complete overhaul AGAIN? Good thing the Bills front office isn't as Knee-Jerk as the fans. You can't keep changing the front office everytime the Bills have a losing season. Donahoe was given almost a decade to run the team into the ground, They are here for a few more years

Good thing the Bills front office isn't as Knee-Jerk as the fans. You can't keep changing the front office everytime the Bills have a losing season. Donahoe was given almost a decade to run the team into the ground, They are here for a few more years We are a terrible organization devoid of talent. Buddy's first draft is among the worst in bills history. We have 4-3 defensive players playing out of position and 3-4 players playing out of position. Terrible defensive coaching and we are likely to lose our best WR in free agency. We have overpaid a mediocre QB with a large contract. Please do not talk nonsense. Donahoe was not here for anywhere near 10 years, only 4 years if I recall correctly.
BiggieScooby Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 The idea of throwing these guys out is like invading a country toppiling a dictator and installing another. Until the Bills fans have control over the team like Green Bay's we are screwed. I know we can't do this, but imagine how much better this team would be if we had stability of local ownership and a board of directors than the 93 year old Ralph. God love him but he is inept and is surrounded by incompetent "yes men".
Mark Vader Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I have no problem getting rid of George Edwards, but I think Nix & Gailey are valuable to keep. Getting rid of the GM & Head coach to start all over would be ridiculous.

I'm actually impressed with how well Chanix are doing with the scrubs Ralph and the money men give them to work with. You know, I just can't understand. I just can't imagine it is gratifying to keep losing even if your pile of money keeps growing... Is he is saving up for a new fleet of jets or something Ralph giggles every time he thinks about paying $50,000 fifty years ago for a team worth hundreds of million today. THAT's his Superbowl.
jahnyc Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I think RW is still paying Jauron (less any amounts he is being paid by the Browns), so I doubt he would fire Nix and Gailley and incur those additional costs on top of paying a new GM and coach.

A better analogy might be invading a country to leave the dictator and his cronies in place while you haul away the dictator's wife's milner and his horse's groom.
