jester43 Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 i'm taking a stab at this here, since i have long since learned that you can find out almost anything at the stadium wall. i am looking for a xmas gift...it's for someone i won't be seeing till late next week, so i have a few shopping days left. what makes it tricky is that she's a few weeks away from moving abroad for 2 years...she just took a a job in new zealand and will be living there until at least 1/07. so the question for you world traveling types is, if you ever spent an extended time living overseas, is there something that would make a good gift that someone living here might not think of? ...something you missed not being able to get, or something that would make the transition to overseas life easier? i realize this is sort of vague, but i thought i would give it a shot. thanks.

MadBuffaloDisease Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 Ger her a Sirius satellite receiver.
jester43 Posted December 25, 2004 Author Posted December 25, 2004 that's actually a good idea...except i know nothing about them. she won't have a car there, but i assume they make little ones that you can use in your house only ?
MadBuffaloDisease Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 Actually I don' t know if it would work in NZ. It might not.
Just Jack Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 Actually I don' t know if it would work in NZ. It might not. 177634 No, Sirius won't work in NZ. The sats don't travel over that part of the globe. That would be like giving her a very expensive paperweight.
stevestojan Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 The sats don't travel over that part of the globe. 177643 I assume this is sarcastic??? Don't they work everywhere?
Just Jack Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 I assume this is sarcastic??? Don't they work everywhere? 177645 No. The sats for Sirius only travel over North America, not the entire globe.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 After thinking about it further, that's what I figured.
