Bad Drafting, Bad Coaching or Both?

How do you replace almost an entire 52 man roster with 7 picks?

YES, there were holes that weren't addressed. But no matter what they did, there were going to be holes left unaddressed.

You also forget that we still had our leading sack master (Schobel) in the mix when evaluating that team. So yes, we had an outside rush at that time. You can ask Aaron why he sandbagged us, Im simply moving on.

Im not making excuses, Im simply patient. NO ONE turns a team around in one offseason. Especially a franchise that was in as bad of shape as the Bills. Not the Dolphins, not the Falcons. NO ONE. Get a grip.

49ers look great. Cinci and the Broncos are looking pretty good right about now. No one picked these teams to be in the spot that they are in. Somehow, Buddy has convinced you Pollyannas that it takes years to rebuild and that this team was talent-less. If it weren't for the guys who were leftovers from the previous regime, the Bills would have 1 win (not to mention Marshawn, Poz and DW)! I'd tell you to keep drinking the kool-aid but you are the one pouring around here.

Even with a POS for an owner, any GM that can't turn a team around in 3 years has no business being in the NFL You can excuse W-L record in year 1 of a new regime, and he has already improved on that in year 2, I'll wait & see what he does next year. No excuses though for having a piss-poor draft, and 2010 doesn't look too hot right now, not at all.

I have to agree with this assessment, especially the 3rd one. There are examples around the league of players that, for a little money, would still be very productive Bills. Do you think we could use J. Greer as cornerback? Jim Leonard at safety? London Fletcher at LB? Jason Peters at L Tackle.

Takeo Spikes is playing pretty good for San Diego.

The Bills drafted Maybin too high, he was a one trick pony in College. So they were in a situation in which they overpaid him.

You know what that leads to in Bills Country.

But I believe they still could have used him just for that one thing he had. So its a combo of bad scouting, drafting for need, and bad coaching on Maybin.

They seem to have promise on Spiller, Williams, Dareus, Sheppard, Rodgers. What you saw Sunday was rookies playing well until it counted the most..in the red zones were they made mistakes that lead to scores. That happens.

I think they missed on Troup. Carrington is ok for a 3rd pick.

Coaching on D needs some improvement. Playing S. Johnson at LB is stupid he should be inside at DT.

He was barely on the job for 120 days for that first draft. They had no idea what they really had. Heck, even Trent looked like he might actually become a player (until the real season started).

Going into the 2010 draft, we needed Talent and D-Line first and foremost (on top of every other position), and that's what Buddy tried to get. Plus, Modrak and Guy were still around. So take 2010 with a grain of salt and look at the rebuild process as a whole.

Interested in what Nix/Whaley do in the 2012 draft!

how does his tenure with the Bills excuse his total failure to evaluate and acquire NFL quality players in the draft?

All of the players drafted prior to 2011 have sucked with the Bills, including Maybin

I would have to agree that it takes time to turnover an entire roster --

especially when all of the players drafted are worse than the guys they replaced

Building thru the draft only works when you actually draft NFL caliber players, including playmakers, not busts
