DisplacedBillsFan Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Just finished watching the Broncos/Chargers OT. I really enjoy watching football with so little interruption from commercials. I think there may have only been one commercial break the entire time, and they played the entire 15:00 minutes. Even at the two-minute warning the telecast did not cut away to a commercial, the announcers simply made a reference to some of the networks' shows. Wish we could watch football like this all the time. It would also make for quicker games and more productive Sunday afternoons on my part. Damn corporate America!!
BLZFAN4LIFE Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Did you hear the ref giving the rules to start that OT? He said that "each team must have a chance to possess the ball." Not so, this is the NFL, not college. It is sudden death.
MacAddict104 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 You gotta love that Tim Tebow! If only half the players on our team had as much heart as this guy
DisplacedBillsFan Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 I was confused that while the official gave the wrong rules, the announcers did too. It's not technically sudden death anymore. I was under the impression that if the team that receives first in OT scores only a field goal, then the other team gets one chance with the ball to match that, or score a TD and win. If the second team also scores a FG then the game becomes sudden death, or if the second team fails to score at all, then the game is over. Is this correct? If so, I'm surprised that this was not mentioned at all.

Win the coin toss, get the ball and score and the game is over. No opportunity for the other team.
