jcbillsfan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Thinking before they trade McKelvin for a 5th round pick , it might be a good idea to try him at free safety. I know they have bryd but still worth to see what he can go , He is athletic and tackles fairly well . Bryd, wilson, searcy, mckelvin as safties next year.
K-9 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 If McKelvin displayed any instincts for the game, I'd agree. A free safety needs that more than anything else. He just looks clueless and hopeless out there. And it seems to be weighing on him which is another thing he doesn't seem to possess; the ability to forget the last play. GO BILLS!!!
EldaBillsFan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Nothing but good things for the bills!
SelmonSmith6378 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 He's shown potential. Let's give him one more year.
EldaBillsFan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 He's a good corner..... unless Rogers and Williams show they can take over right now u keep him
bowery4 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 he really just needs to turn around when he is covering and slap balls out and he could be pretty good. I am not at all sure he can do those things though and judging from his being 4th or 5th in the line up now either are the coaches.
albany c2 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 He's a good corner..... unless Rogers and Williams show they can take over right now u keep him I agree. He is the most talented CB on this team. He's just dumb as rocks.
marauderswr80 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Do what the bears do with hester....get mckelvin in on some O...
miserable_fan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Sadly, he's still better than McGee or Florence. Williams looks like he might be a baller
Heels20X6 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 He was awesome on special teams today. Can't say he's not trying.
MattF2000 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 He was awesome on special teams today. Can't say he's not trying. Agreed. Was quite impressed with him on special teams today. Not what you want from a first round pick but that's a sunk cost. Use him for what he's good at for now. Hope his injury isn't serious.
slipkid Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hope his injury isn't serious. Speaking of McLovin's special teams play and injury, is spearing still a penalty in the NFL?
High Mark Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 If we cut him, we will just replace him with another CB who isnt any better and it will cost us a high draft pick to boot. Lets just keep him and get better at more important positions like OLB, ILB, LT, QB, TE, etc.
jcbillsfan Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Speaking of McLovin's special teams play and injury, is spearing still a penalty in the NFL? marv never said a word. The guy is on the ground on a lose ball , next thing you know he is walking of the field looking like he got shot
Mr_Blizzard Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 At some point, we need to get some production from our first-round pics . . .
MacAddict104 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 McKelvin is often times in position to make a play, he just has ZERO ball skills. He's a liability out there as we saw a few weeks ago. I don't think the answer is to try him at Free Safety especially when we have a decent FS in Byrd. It's going to be time to move on from yet another botched #1 draft pick
PO'14 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Another example of a late hit and no call by the ref. We got manhandled on late hits today and if I remember correctly, being manhandled after the end of a play should be illegal. Keep Mckelvin on special teams only!
billsfan714 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 At some point, we need to get some production from our first-round pics . . . Amen to that. I get sick of hearing about guys need to develop, constantly need more time, we should be patient. This isnt the CBA. There are teams in the NFL who actually expect 1st, 2nd and 3rd years guys to actually make plays and produce
CBD Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I thought he looked pretty good on specs today, before trading him I'd make him a 4th CB and let him contribute there.
Gray Beard Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I thought he looked pretty good on specs today, before trading him I'd make him a 4th CB and let him contribute there. A disappointment based on his high draft, but I agree completely. This is part of the "depth" idea that people keep going on and on about. Keep him for special teams and depth. Don't dump him and have to go get somebody else to do what he can already do. If he demands ridiculous money when his contract runs out then you have to make a tough decision, but in the meantime, keep him.
