bisonbrigade Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Perfect player to fit top need of this team. Courtney Upshaw is a pass rushing outside backer from Alabama. Played with Marcel Dareus. He can do it all, pass rush cover and play the run. Watch how rushes passer and picks off a pass for a TD. The Bills need play Makers.
Joaquin1119 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I don't know. he looks like he can be push around once he enter into the nfl level
bouds Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 He's a solid player but nothing amazing, we'll have a top 10 pick and we aren't taking him that high. Just not athletic enough, but he's well rounded.
DrDawkinstein Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Big fan, would take him in a heartbeat.
The Senator Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Upshaw would be a great pick - as would teammate Donta Hightower if he comes out after this year, his junior season. But don't forget the o-line either - we cut Wang and need to... Adcock
RTW2012 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I don't know. he looks like he can be push around once he enter into the nfl level Yep, just like Von Miller.

buffaloaggie Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Big fan, would take him in a heartbeat. Upshaw would be a great choice in the 1st. Another guy to watch is Keenan Robinson from Texas. Not a big pass rusher, but playing weakside or middle, he would make a huge impact. He was in the backfield making big plays against my Aggies all of last night. Hated him last night, but he'll be a good pro IMO. He really stood out to me. Projected round 3-4. Emmanual Acho was getting run over by a 5-8 RB...not a good prospect.
greenmohawk Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 We need a QB big time, Landry Jones or Brandon Weedon please. But it's to early for the draft. Go Bills!
VanCity Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 We need a QB big time, Landry Jones or Brandon Weedon please. But it's to early for the draft. Go Bills! Landry Jones is a prototype. 6'4", 230lbs, cannon for an arm and a solid pedigree. He will take a year to adapt to a pro offense, but I see great things from him. That being said, we need pass rushing first and foremost. The issue with this years draft is that there aren't any standout pass rushers expected to be worthy of a top 15 pick. Upshaw is the top rated OLB and, as stated above, he is not a natural pass rusher. Luke Quechly of BC and Zach Brown of UNC are highly regarded, but better fit the mold of a mlb in a 4-3. If we return to the 4-3 under Wanny, then maybe that works, but that really goes against what Buddy has been trying to do over the last two drafts on D.
NewEra Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011
We need a QB big time, Landry Jones or Brandon Weedon please. But it's to early for the draft. Go Bills!
. Of we take Landry Jones, ill cry myself to sleep for months. I'm saying "I told you so" right now. Buddy, PLEASE don't draft Landry Jones!!! I'd be happy with luck, barkley or rg3 in the 1st, the rest of the guys, I'd take a flyer on in the later rounds. I like upshaw a lot, I'd be happy with him as well, but it looks like we're gonna be picking 6-14, top 10 might be early.
JM57 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 We need a QB big time, Landry Jones or Brandon Weedon please. But it's to early for the draft. Go Bills! Seriously? Fitz is ONE YEAR OLDER than Weeden. Do your homework.

I need some reasoning behind that statement. From what Ive seen, Jones is a prototype that can make all the throws and has shown accuracy and the ability to make reads.
Geno Smith's Arm Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 (edited) They aren't gonna pick a 1st rd QB. Chan has to get the team winning as soon as possible to keep his job, and is "all in" with Fitz. Edited November 25, 2011 by Matthews' Bag

Played with Marcel Dareus. He can do it all, pass rush cover and play the run. Watch how rushes passer and picks off a pass for a TD. The Bills need play Makers. As draft rankings stand now I would take him or Whitney Mercilus of Illinois and then take QB Ryan Tannehill in the second. However if Tannehill moves up as I expect he will we should take him because if we want to join the Green bays and Patriots of the world we need an elite QB and RT is it. He has the size, mobility, running, live arm, accuracy and smarts (already graduated and is up for the academic Heisman)to be an elite QB in the NFL. He has had some tough outings lately but when your D blows, can't run the ball and have to throw 90% of the time its hard to win even though he almost pulled them out. Upshaw would be a great choice in the 1st. Another guy to watch is Keenan Robinson from Texas. Not a big pass rusher, but playing weakside or middle, he would make a huge impact. If we return to the 4-3 under Wanny, then maybe that works, but that really goes against what Buddy has been trying to do over the last two drafts on D. Kuechly blows, every time I watch him he is getting pushed around and make his tackles 5 yards down the field, just another Poz but worse. They aren't gonna pick a 1st rd QB. Chan has to get the team winning as soon as possible to keep his job, and is "all in" with Fitz. If He really wants to keep his job he better draft a QB. Chan is safe because he's a good coach and Nix has got Ralph believing the long slow method and knows it takes time to build a contednder.

From what Ive seen, Jones is a prototype that can make all the throws and has shown accuracy and the ability to make reads.
when I watch him play, I see a qb that's afraid to let the ball rip deep. It seems as if he ONLY throw deep when his Wr is WIDE open. His offense is quick hitting, usually hike throw really quick. When the first Wr is covered, he checks down to the RB real fast, which may be a good thing, due to his lack of mobility when the play breaks down. He has a long throwing motion and when there's pressure, his technique breaks down and just looks awful,IMO. Behind our line and with our wrs, I see a Trent Edwards situation developing with jones. The first read isn't open, pressure comes, he can't move, so check down. He leads his receivers well and has a nice arm, I'll give him that. I haven't seen him improve at all over the last couple years. Barkley has been the poster boy for improvement. His accuracy has been money this year, where in the past, it was his weakness. He leads his wrs as well as any qb I've seen in college. He throws pinpoint lasers in the middle of the field and isn't afraid to throw deep, even when his wrs are covered. Some see that as bad, I don't mind a qb willing ton take a chance. He has the best wrs in college football, so I'm sure that has something to don with it. Griffen is exciting, has a big arm, makes reads, and makes BIG plays when he needs to. Super fast with great instincts in the pocket. He fits very well in chains system (who knows if chan will even be here). Very clutch. He looks like a gangster, but is far from one. In summary, Landry hasn't improved, can't move, doesn't throw well on the run, loves to check down and won't throw deep unless the Wr is wide open. I think he needs a good OL and great wrs in order to succeed in the NFL, our 2 biggest need offensively. Chan likes a qb that can move. Jones cannot, although he's good in play action. Just not a guy I want running our team. You disagree, I respect that, it's just my opinion. I'll say I told you so if I'm right, and vice versa Edited November 25, 2011 by NewEra

I haven't seen enough of Landry's games to provide this type of insight, but I would definitely take RG3 ahead of him regardless. My hope is that the Bills will not be in a position to grab him as that means they will have lost out this season. What are your thoughts on the OL, CB,OLB, and WR's that are available. A WR like Michael Floyd (yes, I know about his off-field issues) would mean a lot to this offense and he may be sitting there when the Bills select. Obviously Kalil would be a dream OT, but is there anyone else that has stood out? I'm not sure if we need 1st or 2nd round OL as we have solid starters. It's our depth there that needs help.
SelmonSmith6378 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I want Jayron Hosley or Lamar Miller. But Upshaw is a great pick too.
