Slightly under average. 1 elite player (Jackson) , 3 above average players (Wood, Levitre, Johnson). Let me know your thoughts.. but this is what I personally came up with in evaluating the offense.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 That's pretty spot on. Though I would point out that Fred Jackson has only been "elite" for about half a season so I don't know I would put him there yet. However, he has been our best running back the last 3-4 years.

I'd say that's pretty spot on...except Corey McIntyre only sees 25% of the plays on a given day and Brad Smith only plays 4 or 5 snaps...hopefully they get McIntyre in more in a power set and hand Brad Smith the ball bag to pick up tees and balls after warmups.

I think that's pretty much spot-on. I might go up on a player or down on a player - for example, while SJ has his moments, I'm not convinced overall he's above average, while I think in general Pears has been OK, Chandler might become above average, and Spiller gets a "very bad" grade from me after his goal-line effort yesterday. One also might want to consider the backups who have been playing eg Hairston, Rhinehart - though admittedly, not as much data. Ruvell Martin gets a "very bad" from me also. The bottom line is about the same. We aren't a talented team, but we have, in the past, demonstrated the ability to put up a better fight than we did yesterday.
dave mcbride Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Sounds about right. They're 14th overall in yards and 10th in points (although the point ranking is deceiving given the early run of turnovers). I think you can chalk up the higher-than-average ranking to really good coordinating on the offense. Gailey is in fact a very good coordinator who managed to do it with smoke and mirrors for seven weeks. The Bills are now fifth (meaning fifth most) in INTs thrown too, and that's not good.
vincec Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) My take: QB - Fitzpatrick Average HB - Fred Jackson Elite HB - CJ Spiller bad FB - Corey McIntyre Average WR - Stevie Johnson Above Average WR - David Nelson Average WR - Donald Jones Bad WR - Naaman Roosevelt Average He's played better than Jones whenever he has been in there, IMO. Not that big or fast but a solid depth player. WR - Brad Smith Very Bad Can't imagine him contributing less unless he actively starts to sabotage plays. TE - Scott Chandler Above Average Chandler is a solid TE. The first in a long time. T - D. Bell Average G - A. Levitre Above Average C - Eric Wood Above Average G - Craig Urbik Average Played decently until this week. T - Eric Pears Average Played decently until this week. Bill O needs an elite WR and above average OT, a legitimate QB prospect and OL depth. Edited November 21, 2011 by vincec

BRH Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I think the roster broke down long before this thread started.
....lybob Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Steve Johnson is an above average WR- he's not an above average #1 WR, in fact I'd rate him somewhere between 17-21 so he's a slightly below average #1 WR.

Bill O needs an elite WR and above average OT, a legitimate QB prospect and OL depth. Of all the rankings on this thread, I like this summary best. Roosevelt got clobbered on a head to head hit yesterday that should have been a penalty but he held on. I think McIntyre should be used more, so it is hard to grade him fairly. Receiver ranking to me should be a combination of route running, speed, toughness, good hands and size. Nobody on this team comes close to a Larry Fitzgerald prototype.
CBD Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Looks good. I might give Pears average. Urbik too
