Stormin Norman Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) Having suffered through a third straight dismantling, I was thinking about all the blind loyalists who pistol-whipped Jerry Sullivan and other press folks for taking the pessimistic view of this roster. They all slapped Jerry and the boys around pretty good for voicing doubt, even while the Bills pulled out dramatic comebacks and stirring victories. However, being a well-trained Buffalo fan, I patiently waited for the inevitable anvil to fly out of the sky and hit me in the head, certain to wake me from the nice dream I had been living until, oh, about the eighth game. It's been over a decade of non-playoff futility. Yes, it's easy for Sullivan and company to pre-ordain the Bills as losers until proven otherwise, but the organization refuses to prove them wrong. Peter Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Is that the same Jerry Sullivan who was whining on WGR about how the Bills had "to pay the man" (referring to Fitz). How has that worked out for the Bills since they signed him to that huge deal? I really hope he ends up playing up to his new contract. Sullivan loves to complain and his bitching and moaning gets old very quickly. By the way, is the whiner line on WGR named after Sully? I always thought that having the whiner line and Sullivan as a regular guest on WGR was redundant.
PromoTheRobot Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) At times it feels like failure is what we really want. Whenever we have a little success we keep reminding everyone of failure. Then when things turn they celebrate it. Happy days are here again. PTR Edited November 21, 2011 by PromoTheRobot
Stormin Norman Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) I think the Bills give nay-sayers all the fuel they need, and that's the problem. But for the glory years, the organization has been satisfied with mediocrity, yet the seats keep getting filled. I agree 100 percent that it gets old, but the Bills keep perpetuating the agony. What other truly contemding team has so many umdrafted players and no-names? No wonder Ralph expressed his utter surprise that the Bills were doing so well to start the year. And weren't we all equally surprised? Give Gailey credit, we won with schemes and imterceptions and now both aren't working. In the end, it takes talent and physical toughness to win in the NFL. Buffalo lacks both. Like the last ten or twelve years. Edited November 21, 2011 by Stormin Norman
The Dog Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Nix called it after week three. We have no depth. It may be a little late this year do do much about that. Oh Yeah. GO Bills!
8-8 Forever? Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Having suffered through a third straight dismantling, I was thinking about all the blind loyalists who pistol-whipped Jerry Sullivan and other press folks for taking the pessimistic view of this roster. Well, two essentially pick sixes off tipped passes and a blocked punt TD did not help yesterday. Probably would have been an OK game without those. Turnovers kill you in the NFL. that game showed how. Don't turn the ball over, you are in every game. Turnovers and the short fields they provide to the offense decide games in the NFL more than anything else . Bills are not getting the amazing fluke turnovers off guys feet and heads like they were in the first month and now they are going the other way with tipped balls going to the other team. 5-5 is about the right record for this team. Now, with all the injuries, they are not going 3-3 the rest of the way IMO. Tough season. I was there at the "white out" tailgate b4 the Jets game. Oh, how things have changed in two short weeks. See you at the draft.
