ajzepp Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Okay, okay...that probably won't be settled...but I had to let you guys know about this since I haven't seen it discussed yet. I was reading my usual DVD Picks and Peeks by Harry Knowles on AICN.com, and one of the things I found mentioned was the new documentary The Captains. It's directed by Shatner (of course...the logical choice) and the great news is that it's available on NETFLIX streaming! I'm about to sit down right now and check it out...If anyone else has seen it, or plans to, chime in and share your thoughts! And just for the record...Kirk > Picard.

I will definitely check it out. By the way your logical statement above is wacko. Picard was much better, it isn't even close. I would even say T.J. Hooker > Kirk

I plan to...saw it on Netflix last week, and read about it on Shatner's Google+ stream earlier this week. Shatner directs like he acts (Very. Choppy. And EMPHASIZED. With lots of...inexplicable...PAUSES!) But knowing in part what this is based off of (a convention appearance by Shatner, Stewart, and whoever it was that played Cisco and Janeway), it should be interesting.

EC-Bills Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 ... Picard was much better, it isn't even close. Hmm. Who kicked ass and got the chicks? Oh that's right, Kirk. Kirk > Picard.
mead107 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) Picard is not doing priceline commercials.so it has to be KIRK. Edited November 17, 2011 by mead107
Fezmid Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Sisco > everyone else Reminds me of a lyric from the Weird Al song, "White and Nerdy": Only question I ever thought was hard was do I like Kirk? Or do I like Picard?

I can't even believe this is a question: Trivia for fellow nerds: the above clip is from the very last aired episode of the original Star Trek series, "Turnabout Intruder" Trek Captain rankings: Kirk Sisko Picard The others suck! Pine Barrens Mafia Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Kirk FTW. he beat the schitt out of Khan with a piece of PVP pipe. Picard reads Shakespeaere and turns down hot archaeologists who want some.
Buftex Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Kirk FTW. he beat the schitt out of Khan with a piece of PVP pipe. Picard reads Shakespeaere and turns down hot archaeologists who want some. Valid points, although Picard did get with Framke Jensen...and Dr Crusher...not too bad!
Cugalabanza Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Tangent: I agree Kirk > Picard, but Picard was pretty damn funny on the show Extras. “... and she's trying to cover up, but I've already seen everything.”
Just Jack Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Saw it in my new arrivals last week, added to instant queue but not watched yet.
shrader Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Sisko wasn't even a captain though, was he?
Just Jack Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Sisko wasn't even a captain though, was he? He was promoted in season 3 from Commander to Captain.
shrader Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 He was promoted in season 3 from Commander to Captain. So becoming a religious icon before even making it to the rank of captain has to be a pretty impressive accomplishment.
Chef Jim Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 The one and only time Picard beats Kirk is when he was pissed about something once and said Merde. I always wondered how many people caught that.

shrader Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 God, my youth was completely wasted. And apparently your adulthood too.
