You're done with what exactly? Gimme a break, you're like the rest of us: We shut off the TV before the horror-show officially ends, walk around a bit wondering what to do with rest of day, swear we're not going to read any of the news about this game...then a bit later we cool down, find ourselves on TBD looking for someone who feels like we do, then we start calculating (Hmmmm, we could still go 10-6, that's realistic, right?)...and so on.

The sky may be falling on the season, but it's not all crashing down around us on this version of the organization. There's a clear way forward here:

1.) Fix the goddamn defense. Fire George Edwards, effective tomorrow, and find a coordinator who can run a pro unit. Maybe that guy's Wanny, but I'm not convinced. I don't think we've put together such top-shelf 3-4 talent that scheme has to factor into this decision. Steve Spagnolo's likely to be fired. Jack Del Rio might be available. There's more coaching talent in the position coach ranks. Do a real search, and find the best guy - a coach who will also be able to identify talent. With Dareus and Williams, we've got some power up front. Now flesh it out with position depth and starters at LB. You can get a lot done with roleplayers on defense; go out and find those guys.

2.) Accept that this is going to be Fitz's team, and build for that. The guy has a quick release and decent accuracy, so find guys who get make quick cuts, get open, hold on to the ball, and move forward. We've got a scrapheap playing wide receiver. Anyone who can be a credible threat downfield would revitalize these guys. Donald Jones is not a starter, Steve Johnson isn't a #1.

If you can make those changes, we'll be back to September again.

 good post

Chan is a mediocre offensive coach. Nix is a horrible GM. Fitzpatrick is an average backup. Freddie is close to being over the hill. Spiller is a bust. Johnson is overrated. Jones is absolute crap. Our offensive line can't protect for longer than 2 seconds. Our defensive line is full of soft bodies. Our OLBs are undersized, inexperienced and simply useless. Our MLB are unreliable. Our CBs can't cover anyone. Our Safeties are often out of position. Our kicker and punter are close to over the hill too.

Our recent drafts have netted us nothing. Our FA signings are mostly strike outs.

Other than this, I think we're set.

Okay Mr. Perspective what "perspective" did you gain today? You can win with Tebow completing 2 passes? Here is what I learned we have won 2 games in last 6. We are more the 2-4 team than the team that started 3-0.

The perspective of not letting teams losing ruin my week. You should try it. This is not the worst loss ever. Not even close. If you expect players to shake it off then maybe we should too.

I know we just brough Chan and Nix in, and just signed Fitz to a new deal. But this team clearly needs to be rebooted again.

The last 20 years have been failure after failure after failure.

Maybe it needs to start at the top with Wilson.

I'm sure this will be one of eleventy million frustration threads.

Right, maybe they should start over. But why stop with the owner? Why not go to the franchises city. Move the Bills to LA, rename them, and never have a problem with the Bills losing another game. <_<

We need to go back to the drawing board and evaluate our current offensive and defensive schemes. Clearly teams have caught on to us and we're looking like, well, the Bills out there. I really hope to see different against Miami. This team, like their quarterback, is among the best when they're at their best, but at their worst they're really really bad. I haven't given up home, still 7 games left to the season and though its hard to see it now anything could happen. At the very least, we improved over last year, and we'll keep improving years down the line.

Definitely an extreme overreaction. Yes they have issues. But c'mon man you're going to say MLB is a problem area for us at the moment? Barnett has been awesome. You can't just say everything is crap. Definitely some crap but not everything. You don't win 5 games through halfway and have NOTHING at all to work with. Constant turnover is not the answer. Getting rid of Chan is not the answer. Its not the fact that we have alot of injuries - every team does, it's just that we don't have good depth as a football team yet. Injuries and lack of depth are killing the teams' performance and confidence each week.

I understand your frustration. I am as well. But we have some solid pieces and need to keep building.

Good post. I think everyone got excited when the season got off to such a good start. But the bottom line is - The Bills still need more talent. We have almost nothing to show for the last several drafts.

No one left from '04, only Roscoe Parish from '05 (he's missed most of last 2 seasons), Only Kyle Williams from '06, No one from '07, 3 guys from '08 (McKelvin was the 1st rounder - sorry). And 2010 wasn't terrific either. SIX **** drafts! You can't recover from that in one or two seasons. This team will need at least one more GOOD offseason (and more likely 2) to move to the next level.

We had a decent scheme that put our mediocre talent in a position to win. Other teams have caught up, and we can't make adjustments because the talent is mediocre.

Its not the end of the world, we're just still not competitive when it comes to on-field talent.

When they play like this, everything looks mediocre: the players, the coaching , the GM and the owner.

Calling Gailey a mediocre offense coach at this point is over the top. What's not over the top is the thread a couple weeks ago that pointed out that our fast start has little to do with Nix's personnel prowess. The Spiller pick just looks worse every week.

We don't need to get a new coach and a new GM and a new everything because they're playing poorly as of recent. I mean come on lets be realistic, none of us were saying this crap a few weeks ago. The problem is that they aren't playing with any rhythm, they've started the last 2 games just throwing the ball on every down of their first possession. Our offense is built on the balance that we maintained with a good run game. If you've noticed we've kind of lost sight of the balance in our attack. And we shouldn't panic due to being down by 7 and trying to pass every down. I think Gailey is a good coach and has the right idea the guys just aren't making adjustments pre-snap, that was clear on their first play from scrimmage. Obviously Wilson is a horrible owner. We all can agree on that. Spiller isn't a bust, he's just not being used properly, I mean how can a guy who touches the ball maybe 3 or 4 times a game ever progress? Our defense simply can't stop a nosebleed. George Edwards should have been released after last season. The front four don't get any pressure, they are playing a more simple defense than high school teams at this point and their front four are playing terrible. When there is no pressure by the front four it exploits and makes the LBs and DB's vulnerable. Edwards is making the mistake of trying to figure out how not to make them not look vulnerable when he should be looking at how to get more pressure. Moats should be starting he's our best pass rusher and there needs to be more accountability on the defensive line by the players themselves as well. Dwan Edwards is getting no pressure. Simply that 3-4 front isn't working AT ALL. Dareus and Carrington should be inside for starters.

I second all the bolded statements in the paragraph, the only think I don't agree with is Carrington inside. We should play the 4-3 more we are still better equiped for it. Our front four should be Carrington, Dareus, Troup, and Kelsey when he returns. (you can even put Heard in for Troup, I would just like to see Troup for the rest of the year so when we cut him next year I will know he sucks).

Yup. Most people on this board, me included, were howling when that pick was made. And, that's when we thought he was going to be an excellent running back, much less the bust he is looking to be.

People, people.

I know I'm overreacting.

I'm freaking mad!

So I'm going to stick with the OP until later in the week, and I'll calm down. For now, I'm going to angrily eat my burrito. And I'm going to down this root beer while filled with rage.

Well put and I'll join you sir.

PTR has a level head and an attitude which one would not assume would hit the panic button so readily. I have a high respect for his non-panicky posts. Some emotions on this board swing too easily. Today's loss was disappointing and pissed me off, but no need to dwell for too long. Re-evaluating things is what this team needs to do but by no means should the players panic and neither should we.
