BuffaloBill Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I like Stevie Johnson and I hope the Bills resign him. However, he is not "top receiver " who can draw double coverage and take control of the game.

Durham_Bills_Fan Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I agree completely, I think the Peerless Price experiment in Atlanta is a pretty apt comparison - Stevie is a great compliment, but not a leading man. The only problem is the Bills don't seem to have anyone who is anywhere close to a game-changer on our recieving corps. Late round draft picks, and undrafted free agents make fun stories, but without elite athletic talent (AJ Green, Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson, etc.) we are stuck relying on our scheme to generate open recievers.

Johnson is not the same player this year. He can't run. I don't know if the groin injury is nagging him but I'm thinking he may end up on IR soon.
Bangarang Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) He's not a game changer. Edited November 13, 2011 by Bangarang
PromoTheRobot Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 The Kamir Aiken era may be starting soon PTR
Dorkington Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 He's an ok #2 guy... on a bad team. But no way can he be a #1 guy on any decent team.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I like him a lot and he is a polarizing figure in Buffalo BUT if he is demanding over 6 million a year is he really worth it?
FreakPop Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Some of us here said he was not going to have as successful of a year as last year due to Evans leaving. Evans commanded the #1 corner and double teams leaving SJ with man up coverage. No Evans anymore to take that away.
Ramius Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 You guys do know that Stevie was sick the past couple of days, don't you?
BiggieScooby Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Maybe he should go out Thursday night every week!
deep2evans Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 disagree. he has a nagging injury. you still sign the guy even if it's big money.
Pirate Angel Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Not sure what good #2 receiver money is but that what he should get, after canning McKelvin we should be able to get him signed
Dragonborn10 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Johnson just isn't that good. If he were on an opposing team would anyone in this forum fear him?
deep2evans Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 he is good. he's an excellent route runner, which isn't as valuable if you're not running at full speed. the dude has a bad groin. that'll kill you. can we please not run another good player out of town just because he isn't performing at a pro-bowl clip? everyone else around him is sucking too.
CodeMonkey Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 In my opinion Johnson is not a big time WR and therefore should not get a big time contract. But, I didn't think Fitz would get the contract he did either so what do I know.
Mr. WEO Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 You guys do know that Stevie was sick the past couple of days, don't you? He didn't seem sick Friday night--isn't that covered in "the past couple of days"?
NoSaint Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Not sure what good #2 receiver money is but that what he should get, after canning McKelvin we should be able to get him signed Word is he's looking for good #1 money (I believe 9m was the number I remember)
