NF needs to shed the factories as America has lost this battle to places like China and other emerging economies. A retractable roof dome in Niagara Falls would be optimal.. Especially if the endzone facing the falls was a giant glass wall that always had a view of the falls.. Joe, you need to come to the realization here that Niagara County is the most corrupt county in WNY when it comes to politics. I have experienced it first hand and Albany is right in the mix on it. Also, you cannot shed the factories the way you suggest, it's not that easy. Occidental Chemical, Dupont Sodium/Olen Chemical, Niacet, Praxair.....they are all here to stay in that industrial corridor. The cost of a cleanup of that area would be well into the upper 15 to 20 billion range and would take years. Downtown NF is a different story altogether however, and the one thing holding back any development down there is the tight grip certain (won't name names, do your own research) groups or people have on not only the property, but the permitting process at the political level as well. The economy will not turn around in this area (Erie county included) until the existing power structure of the 2 party system and it's supporting money is removed from the equation, it really is that simple. Theyre far enough away from where I envision a stadium to be any kind of environmental factor. I hear you on politics but reality is they're everywhere. It's a mega project like this that can both incent them to overcome differences and bring in external forces to impose solutions on them , that makes things happen. It's a very compelling proposition if we get state funding. Time for schumer to keep his promise of keeping bills in the area, and turn americas run down "back door" into a shiny new front entrance, a projected net tax positive event for NYS. If by transport you mean roads to NF, then there are plenty. Most people think you have to go through Grand Island to get to the Falls. There are at least 3 other major routes you can take to get there. But you just raised an interesting scenario: How would people feel if a new stadium was built in NF Canada? Either along the QEW, or smack dab in the middle of tourist trap downtown with the wax museums and casinos? US fans could park and tailgate on the American side, then walk over the Rainbow Bridge to the game. You act like NF has a moat around it. There are at least 4 routes to NF...1) The I-190 2) River Rd. & LasAlle Exp. 3) NF Blvd. and 4) Rt.104. Look at a map. Build an open air stadium in downtown Buffalo on the waterfront! I love the idea of a late December game with cold gray skies! The Vikings have never been the same since they movede to a domed stadium, take football back to its roots, muddy, snow and the gray December sky. You, sir, are a masochist.
