ACor58 Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 It was nice to see him have the type of season that he did, and he is fortunate that Phillip Rivers decided to hold out. I alwasy liked him in college and he will make some team very happy next year. Also shows what a "genius" A.J. Smith is. Sure Brees struggled his first two years in the league (a lot of good QBs do.) If he had started Rivers like they wanted to San Diego would not have had the type of season that they did. No wonder why Manning didn't want to play for them.

Mark VI Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Smith has a real headache on his hands. Pro-Bowl QB and a Rookie QB with a monster contract. FA Brees might not be happy if franchised for a year. What to do ?

Mark VI Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I think that is exactly what they will do. 174387 That has been reported as the plan. The agent for Brees may turn this ugly, trying to score his client the big $$. Stay tuned.
Thailog80 Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 He should treat Phillip Rivers and his agent to a weekend in Honolulu.

I was very disappointed that year when we chose Nate instead of him but things seem to have worked out.
ACor58 Posted December 23, 2004 Author Posted December 23, 2004 He should treat Phillip Rivers and his agent to a weekend in Honolulu. 174409 I am not sure if Rivers would take that as a compliment or an insult. Either way, it would be pretty funny to see the medias reaction.
