BillsNYC Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Who would you rather have: A) Andre Reed in his prime B) Eric Moulds in his prime
ROCCEO Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Id take moulds as long as hes not having one of his off days Reed was much more consistent though
Gavin in Va Beach Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Reed. I love Moulds but it seems he can only score a long touchdown if he catches a deep ball. Reed could catch a 5 yard slant and dodge defenders for 50 yds all the way to the endzone. Man those were fun to watch.
RI Bills Fan Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Andre without question. For about three years he was in a class that only Jerry Rice could touch and surpass. Eric is one of the top receivers in the NFL but he has never set himself apart from the pack the way Andre did.
Realist Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Definitely Reed. Moulds is just too inconsistent. You could always count on Reed to make the big catch.
scribo Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Andre any day -- even once he was just past his prime. When it really mattered, he was always there. I really hope he makes Canton.
Zamboni Man Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Andre by far....for a long time he was the best run after catch receiver in the NFL.
R. Rich Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Reed. I like Moulds, but Reed was special. Great route runner with reliable hands (save the Pepper Johnson-influenced 'alligator arms' he had in Super Bowl XXV).
GG Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Definitely Reed. Moulds is just too inconsistent. You could always count on Reed to make the big catch. 173561 Like a key 3rd and one in the Superbowl, that would have likely iced the game in the first half? It is very hard to compare the two, because Moulds hasn't played with the same offensive cast that Reed was blessed to be a part of. For all the faults that people throw on Moulds, Reed has been guilty of his share. Inconsistency was the name of Reed's game as well, but passage of time is giving him a free pass. I'd say that if you plugged Moulds into K-Gun, his production would have been much higher than Reed's. Conversely, if you plug Reed into the post K-gun era, you get.... Reed in the post K-Gun era.
Billsjunkie Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 You dont see Moulds run after the catch that much anymore. Reed all the way.
Alaska Darin Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Like a key 3rd and one in the Superbowl, that would have likely iced the game in the first half? It certainly would be interesting to see the 2 switched. For my money, neither holds a candle to Jerry Butler.
Cash2Burn Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Reed, no question. He was a much more accomplished WR. EM's advantage is almost entirely related his physical superiority to most DBs.
ganesh Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Andre without question. For about three years he was in a class that only Jerry Rice could touch and surpass. Eric is one of the top receivers in the NFL but he has never set himself apart from the pack the way Andre did. 173558 Having one single QB throughout your career helps....... The threat of Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas helped Reed develop into a great player.....Unfortunately for Moulds in his 9 years in the league he had to deal with avg running backs and QBs who ran for their life. Other than the two great years he had with Flutie and Bledsoe he has been part of an offense that has struggled...Look at the QBs who have thrown to him Todd Collins, Billy Joe Hobert, Rob Johnson, Van Pelt
BillsNYC Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 So funny...I asked this same question 2 years ago and more people said Moulds....
Kelly the Dog Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Strangely, Reed, the more consistent one, imploded at the absolute worst times. Both are great players. I would say Andre by a nosehair would be my choice. Although we all may feel differently if Moulds was on the Andre teams and vice versa. We also cannot forget that Andre tried to leave the Bills for the big money and came crawling back, while Moulds took perhaps less money to stay a Bill (Granted, it wasn't ALL that big a sacrifice, but still).
R. Rich Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Reed. No question about it. 173750 How about Reed or Russell Copeland?
Hardy Pyle Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Reed. Easily. I have always been unimpressed by Moulds play. He's good but not as good as many make him out to be. But I really like Moulds, I just don't think he's that great.
