Johnny Coli Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Was listening to The Black Halos from Vancouver, BC on the way into work this morning. Very Dead Boy-ish. They broke up in 2002. Here's a link to a free, legal mp3 or wma file. http://www.epitonic.com/artists/theblackhalos.html The Epitonic site has tons of free, legal downloads from Indie, Techno, Punk etc bands. Not a bad place to check out new music, or to get a feel for a genre that you know nothing about. http://www.epitonic.com/

cale Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Introducing people to new music that they never would've heard before can't be a bad thing, so I'll start another "What are you listening to?" thread. Currently: Artist: Darling Violetta Song: Numb Album: Bath Water Flowers Website: http://www.darlingviolleta.com CW 173001[/snapback] I'm gonna suggest some from extreme ends of the spectrum. Being a performing songwriter and living in NashVegas, I have a few local favorites. Rodney Crowell is always a good listen and Steve Earle is a God! There's also this new guy Stephen Simmons and the always excellent Kevin Gordon. I have thru the year switched the following in and out of my car CD player. Sam Baker, Rosanne Cash, U2's "Atomic Bomb", Jim Reilley, Tom Prasada-Rao and Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." But I have to say Annie Lennox wins my all around personal Grammy this year. "Bare" is simply brilliant. We saw her live twice in two years. The last one this past August. She even out did Sting - which on this particular night wasn't really difficult to do. We also saw her last year at the Ryman. Probably one of the best shows - EVER! What an amazingly gifted woman. Charles

ROCCEO Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Big Pun's first album: Capital Punishment, never was into this guy at all until a professor told me he was his favorite MC and that I had to give it a listen. Turns out pun can kick it.
