OCinBuffalo Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I did not vote for Obama, and I want someone fiscally conservative. That's why I said: don't get your hopes up. We are going to get somebody who swears up and down that he will cut the spending...but then will face the consequences that doing that will allow the left to all him/her every name in the book, and will want to be re-elected...so.... You shouldn't be looking for a fiscal conservative. Instead, you should be looking for somebody who says "I do not care if I get a 2nd term", because that's the person who will actually do what needs to be done.

It's puzzling to me why ANYONE would want a 2nd term. Every President seems to age about 20 years during his 1st term. You'd think they'd all be tap dancing out of office after 4 years.
UConn James Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Politico news stories showing what Herman Cain actually did: 0 Politico news stories showing specifically what Herman Cain was accused of: 0 Link The sources — including the recollections of close associates and other documentation — describe episodes that left the women upset and offended. These incidents include conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature, taking place at hotels during conferences, at other officially sanctioned restaurant association events and at the association’s offices. There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made women who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship.... The source said the board member asked the woman directly about the episode and was told that Cain had invited her up to his suite at a prior association event. I can't speak for Politico's reporting since this from last week, but I've seen it widely reported that two of the incidents concretely involved 1) inviting a 24-year-old intern/employee back to his hotel room. 2) that while standing in a very close position to a woman, who worked in the communications dept of the restaurant association, he said that she was about the same height of his wife. In at least one of these, a settlement was reached for a year's pay and the woman now works as a spokesperson in a high-level govt dept. A year's pay tells me that the association's legal dept found that there was some fire to go along with the smoke of the allegations. The thing of it is, as I wrote upthread, Cain should have volunteered this info months ago. It's always going to come out. But if you're the one who came out with it, it gives people the impression that you're being honest with them about it. Say, "You know, there were a couple of settlements reached while I was president. I would've preferred to fight them, but this is just the age we live in where people throw things at you and see what they can convince other people has stuck. These were incidents where I made innocuous remarks about someone's height. I've moved on. I'm happily married." He didn't do that. He's still claiming a vague memory of these women. Sorry. If someone accuses me of sexual harassment, I would remember those details forever. That's the personal-life equivalent to forgetting that OBL/AQ was behind 9/11. It doesn't ring true and it sounds like he knows he's in the stevestojan and is just hoping for something like Tom Hanks getting busted for child pornography to put this story on page A26. You can't allow people to be surprised by something like this when you're running for president. Take Donald Trump, for instance --- when he was still running/thinking about running, he could've gotten a divorce and instantly married a 20-year-old model and people wouldn't have flinched. That's his style, people aren't surprised, he announces this stuff from a rooftop himself to any and all. His popularity probably would've soared, actually. Like I wrote: This is America. You can screw tigers as long as you admit to any and all that, "Hey, I like to screw tigers."
Magox Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 So far this thing hasn't moved the polls, like the, supposedly, Rick Perry people thought it would. I don't think it will last much longer. The media will be exposed, just like they are with OWS(you know you are really wrong if South Park deigns it necessary to make fun of you), as pushing a story that is Obama-friendly....and as soon as that becomes painfully obvious to even the dimmer people...this will pass like a bad fart. This says more about the desperate purists looking for the non existent, errr Great White Hope. It's not the allegations that should bother people, it's how he's handled them. We get a good chuckle at amateur hour at the White house and the naivete' of our esteemed leader, but Cain makes Obama look like a well seasoned vet. For !@#$s sakes, he didn't even know China had nuclear capabilities.
B-Man Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 A new woman alleging sexual harassment by presidential hopeful Herman Cain will break her silence at a news conference with her powerhouse attorney Gloria Allred Monday afternoon in New York City. The woman, who will be the first to go public on Monday, sought Cain’s help with an employment issue and was allegedly sexually harassed by him. Allred and her client will discuss, in detail, what she alleges occurred with Cain. For those who can’t recall the last time Allred represented someone with a credible claim, you’ll have to look farther back than her attempt to kneecap Meg Whitman in the California gubernatorial election. Greta van Susteren destroyed Allred in a contentious interview last October, and it wasn’t pretty. I’m guessing that hiring Allred signals that a better lawyer wouldn’t take this client, but we’ll have to see when the national media writes another 100 stories about this case. And of course, if the woman didn’t file any complaint — at least by reporting so far, this is someone other than the two women whose cases Politico reported last week — then the allegations are going to have an instant credibility problem anyway. Or at least they would if they were being made against Bill Clinton rather than Herman Cain. Given Allred’s participation in past political hit jobs, don’t expect this to be any sort of tipping point. Meanwhile, speaking about credibility, Howard Kurtz grilled Politico’s Jonathan Martin on the decision to publish the Cain piece on yesterday’s Reliable Sources, taking the same approach as ProPublica’s criticism of the article. Kurtz“Why publish the story then when you couldn’t answer the essential question: What precisely is Herman Cain alleged to have done to these women?” Jonathan Martin, Politico: “Howie, I think any journalist would find the, uh — a report of two women got a fine figure, each, cash payout after alleged sexual harassment against a CEO of a trade group that is now a major contender for president, newsworthy. And that’s the story we had, and that’s what we published.” … Kurtz: “You had to make a go or no go decision. I think at a lot of news organizations an editor would have said ‘you have done some terrific reporting here, you’ve got some great leads here, but you don’t have it. You can’t, you know, have a quote of what he said to any of these women, you’re obviously not able to name the women, you don’t have the details of the sexually suggestive behavior that made them angry. Go back and get more. You could have waited, there was nothing forcing you to publish this last Sunday.” Martin: “Well, we had the fact that one of these women was brought upon by Cain in a hotel room and was made to feel very uncomfortable. We reported later this week more upon what actually happened with that episode, Howie. She was upset by that, that hours later she confronted a member of the board to complain about Cain’s treatment of her, an explicit sexual overture in a hotel room. So again –” Kurtz: “But you can’t tell me what the overture is?” Despite what other posters here have read we still don’t know what the alleged actions were, which makes it impossible to determine whether this is a real story or just a case of nuisance complaint settlements.
B-Man Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Gloria Allred, Can't stand that lady Thats no "lady"...........thats (insert joke here) Well, in another hour or so we'll see what she adds to the circus. .

Dave_In_Norfolk Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Cain’s chief of staff, Mark Block, told Fox News’s Sean Hannity that “we’ve come to find out that her son works at Politico” — the publication that first reported on the sexual harassment allegations against Cain. “You’ve confirmed that now, right?” Hannity asked. “We confirmed it that he does indeed work at Politico, and that’s his mother, yes,” Block said. In reality, Josh Kraushaar has not worked at Politico for 17 months — and he isn’t related to Karen Kraushaar. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-era-of-not-my-responsibility/2011/11/11/gIQA9WY8BN_story.html?tid=pm_pop
UConn James Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 AP: Woman alleges long affair with Cain WASHINGTON (AP) — In an explosive allegation, a Georgia woman said Monday she and Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain had a 13-year extramarital affair that lasted nearly until the former businessman announced his candidacy for the White House several months ago.... Although Cain flatly denied the affair, his lawyer issued a public statement that included no such denial and suggested that the media — and the public — had no business snooping into the details of consensual conduct between adults. If the 'Cain Train' wasn't derailed before, this is just about sure to. As I heard on the news, she's got years of phone records. How are we supposed to trust a guy to tell us the truth as president if he can't even come clean here. Cain flatly denies an affair happened, and then his lawyer walks it back to saying it was consensual. Yet another pol undone b/c he can't keep it in his pants. Like Jon Edwards, how the f--- does anyone these days think they'll be able to keep this stuff from coming out? And if not during the campaign, they have the audacity to bring this kind of stink to the presidency. I just don't get it.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 If the guy is a swinger and just likes to get his freak on he should own it as being who he is and it wouldn't be an issue (well except with the hardcore social conservative types) but the issue that is killing him is the changing stories and back tracking statements which are leading to mistrust and lack of confidence. Just own who you are and it would be much more respectable and less of an issue, at least you would still have integrity and trust with the people

IDBillzFan Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 How are we supposed to trust a guy to tell us the truth as president if he can't even come clean here. He's obviously guilty in your mind, so shouldn't your question be more along the lines of "How are we supposed to trust a guy to tell us the truth as president if we refuse to believe what he is telling us, regardless of any evidence?"
Juror#8 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Usually the candidate's campaign manager vigorously vets their candidate (paid for by the candidate's campaign) before accepting a job. Really good campaign managers will tell the candidate that because of their penchant for wearing diapers, golden showers, and circulating pictures of the whole debaucherous affair, they're probably not a viable candidate. Chris Kofinas got jobbed because the idiot Edwards began his little trist post-campaign. Sheesh!
UConn James Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 AP: Cain telling aides he's reassessing his campaign Herman Cain told aides Tuesday he is assessing whether the latest allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior against him "create too much of a cloud" for his Republican presidential candidacy to go forward. Acknowledging the "firestorm" arising from an accusation of infidelity, Cain only committed to keeping his campaign schedule for the next several days, in a conference call with his senior staff. He's obviously guilty in your mind, so shouldn't your question be more along the lines of "How are we supposed to trust a guy to tell us the truth as president if we refuse to believe what he is telling us, regardless of any evidence?" His "guilt" is not certain, but with all this, the year's salary payouts to the women, plus his own lawyers' words in reacting to this latest affair allegation that is backed with phone records, I'm leaning toward very probable.... If you like to !@#$ around, don't lie about it and it's probably best to just admit that you like to !@#$ around. The issue of sexual fidelity wasn't a problem for Trump; people actually admire the dude for trading in for newer models every 10,000 miles. Agreed. I just can't believe that Block had absolutely no knowledge of this. I don't know any big time campaign managers. A friend of the family, though, manages campaigns for local/county delegates. He has declined opportunities based on prospective candidate's moral turptitude. And this is unvolunteered info that he ascertains about people with no where near the name recognition or public presence of Cain. Block's career is gonna take hit for this.
