SactoBillFan Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) Yup. Same reason I'm not in the NFL. I'd like to play, but it's just hard to find the time. I know what you mean, I was going to play this year, couldn't get the time off work. Edited October 7, 2011 by SactoBillFan
billsfaninvgs Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Were you unemployed at the time? Once I was... But the other time no I wasnt... Good point though. You got me there...
billsfaninvgs Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Thanks for the fix... It wasn't a job that required a English degree...
Endless Ike Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Were you unemployed at the time? I turned down an offer while unemployed because I thought they were screwing me; 2 weeks later comparable job at another company, 20%+ higher pay. Know what you're WORTH, man
Mark Vader Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 He probably wanted too much money. After all wouldn't you want all the money you can get? Vet minimum is not worth it, when you are playing on a team with an O-Line that will probably get you killed.
Malazan Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 He made a little over $2M for his 3+ years in Buffalo and handful of games in Jax. While not chump change, he's not really in a position to refuse work, considering his options are severely limited and his time in the NFL is quickly running out. That being said, I do have to give him props for rejecting the Dols. You're right, you can't hardly live on 2 million.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Were you unemployed at the time? I have turned down jobs when I was unemployed. I had the financial position at the time to have the luxury to do so. My impression is that Trent is a smart guy who either is or hires good financial managers - no high livin' spendthrift there. I'm sure he's in the financial position to turn down a job offer if he wants to. Whether it's true he had the opportunity to turn it down, is another question. (See Williams Jr., Hank)
DerekJ Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Maybe he didn't want to go back to the AFC East. That might be more like it. Having to trudge back into the Ralph once a year? The fans would have him tarred and feathered.
BuffaloBill Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Ralph is cheap. This is the source if the fins problems?
Maddog69 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Trent's favorite sport is Volleyball. He does not love football, so it is not a surprise that he turned down a chance that any real NFL prospect with any love of the game and desperation to play it would have killed to get. Trent is a joke of a QB.
BillsWatch Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 http://sports.yahoo....t_over_dolphins The Miami Dolphins made Trent Edwards(notes) an offer after working him out earlier this week, but the quarterback turned it down. I assume he saw state of their Offensive Line and decided it was better for his health and career to wait and take a chance of playing some other time. I think 'unemployment' is author's hyperbole rather than actually collecting since he would need to justify turning down offer.
#34fan Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Probably offered him whatever the ghastly minimum wage is in Florida. Which, by the way is DOUBLE what he's actually worth.
BiggieScooby Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Wait, no State Income taxes, and great weather...Either Edwards wants to really put his Stanford degree to use, or he has lost his mind. On second thought, he probably asked Miami if he could sleep on it, and awoke in the middle of the night with visions of Dareus, Wilfork and Gang Green pummeling him to the turf.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Didn't want to face us twice a year . Man the Fins must be real bad for Trent to turn them down.
maryland-bills-fan Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 He may be hoping for a gig with a SB bound team who has sudden QB losses.
The Wiz Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Well, maybe he is a Bills fan... Nope. If you don't remember "well, I'm not a Bills fan. I'm a football player. I happen to be a Bills player."
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I think his Stanford buddy Andrew Luck probably told him he didn't want Trent to go to Miami, so begged Trent not to take the job, which would have otherwise likely guaranteed the #1 overall pick.
