Dorkington Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/article584514.ece Meanwhile, linebacker Chris Kelsay was carted out of Ralph Wilson Stadium with a calf injury and was added to the injury report. I know TBD loves to hate on Kelsay, but I think he's been good for us this season so far... is Carrington ready to play every down?

I couldnt agree more. ive been a huge Kelsay critic but his strong play has been a huge suprise for me. you could argue thats what happens when you play with dareus and kw, but i think its more than that and he is due some credit

He was much improved this year. This is a loss. Lets hope Carrington lights it up. It's time for him to step up anyway. He has his opportunity now. I'd also like to see Batten get some more playing time. He's been great on special teams. Edited October 7, 2011 by RyanC883
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 His sack/FF on Dalton (that ended up being reversed by the "tuck rule") was as good as it gets. He basically bent Dalton in half--looked like a Bruce Smith highlight. Hope he's okay.
LABills08 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 He's out. And might be out next week as well. He's having a good year, so even for the Kelsay haters (I have historically been one of them) this is a loss. That being said, Batten is taking his place and he is much better suited for contain against someone like Vick. He's probably undersized as a OLB in a 3-4, but I don't think you'll see many 3 man fronts against Vick. Batten is much quicker than Kelsay and is better equipped to change speed/direction. Plus, he is a great tackler (at least he has been so far). Not a huge loss, but our linebacker depth is questionable for sure.
clancynut Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I have to admit I was a Kelsay Hater for a while as well. I think he spent the initial part of the 2010 season learning a new position and now is performing quite well. He will be missed on Sunday.
silvermike Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Yeah, I can't believe I'm saying this, but we'll miss Chris Kelsay this week. He's a fairly natural linebacker, but not a well trained one up to this point, I suppose, and maybe Wannestedt is helping him? That's my best guess.
CBD Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 According to Joe Buscaglia's twitter Batten was taking 1st team reps in place of Kelsay.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 According to Joe Buscaglia's twitter Batten was taking 1st team reps in place of Kelsay. Too bad for Kelsay, but I am very excited to see Batten get extended PT. Let's see what this kid can do.

He plays fast and hard and has been an animal on STs so far. I think he could be a legit pass rusher given the opportunity.
STLBILLS15 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 According to Joe Buscaglia's twitter Batten was taking 1st team reps in place of Kelsay. It will be interesting to see what Batten can do with full-game reps. Unfortunately i didn't catch many of the preseason games to see him play.
cantankerous Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I think you're all jumping the gun. It said he felt a "twinge" in his calf. He didn't practice today, but that could just be precautionary. It's not like Kelsay to miss a game, so I think I'll wait and see what happens.
blzbus Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 To bad for Kelsay, but with Vick running around I'd rather see Batten and Moats who are a little faster out there. Kelsay isn't fast enough to keep Vick contained.
PDaDdy Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I hate to see anyone get injured especially if they are a Buffalo Bill. That being said for the money he makes I am a Kelsay hater. Let's go Carrington!!! I think we will be pleasantly surprised.
John from Riverside Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I actually think that Batten is a player and am excited he is going to get his chance....... Guess Moates gets lost in the shuffle again...... By the way.....getting rid of Antonio Colemen was a mistake

Gailey on bb.com said he's out, and Batten is taking first team reps, which I think is what prompted the first post on this a few up.
2020 Our Year For Sure Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Troup is also out. Kelsay will be replaced by a rotation depending on personnel groups. This from buffalobills.com, I'd link it but from my phone I can only get on the mobile site.
SactoBillFan Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Too bad he's been playing good this year IMO. Last year he looked confused learning the position.
Alaska Darin Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Kelsay is fine when he's running down hill. That basically means when he puts his hand on the ground, he's productive. He still can't cover air.
