xsoldier54 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Just one last time and then I'm done with this thread, to anyone who is insisting he made a harmless, innocent analogy or comparison or whatever you guys are saying, this is borderline treason. Really read what he said: In an interview Monday morning on Fox News' ''Fox & Friends,'' Williams, unprompted, said of Obama's outing on the links with House Speaker John Boehner: ''It'd be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.'' Asked to clarify, Williams said, ''They're the enemy,'' adding that by ''they'' he meant Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Anchor Gretchen Carlson later said to him, ''You used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe, I think, the president.'' Williams replied, ''Well, that is true. But I'm telling you like it is.'' People, this is indefensible. Anyone who is defending him or saying that, "well the liberal media this or that..." Stop. You are the type that had an issue with Michelle Obama promoting kids eating healthier. There is no arguing with you. It's a wonder we agree on liking the same football team. You can disagree with me all you want, but don't tell me what I should or shouldn't believe. I disagree with your opinion of what he was saying. I have every right to do so. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but Williams did nothing wrong. He expressed his opinion which he has every right to do. Just like you do.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Everyone whining about MNF pulling Hank Williams, Jr. is a hypocrite. Remember the outrage from the right about the Dixie Chicks saying they were ashamed to have Bush as President? All the calls for boycotts, the hatred and the death threats. I don't recall a lot of right-wingers standing up for the Dixie Chicks' right to speak their minds then. No whining about a PC nation at that moment. Go Dixie Chicks!!! being ashamed of Bush is WAY different than any of the rediculous Hitler comparrisons.
xsoldier54 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 We're all friends here fellas. This is the one place I usually don't have to think about politics. BTW, if I were still in the military he would be my commander in chief. As a civilian, he is simply head of the Executive Branch of government. We need to stop calling him, or any president, our CINC. He does not command me, nor do I want him to. He works for us. I agree, we're all friends. And I agree, the President works for us. I hope that when I disagree with someone's opinion that they don't take it personally. I have nothing against anyone on this board. It is a great place to express our opinions about our football team. This thread just struck a chord with me.
shibuya Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I agree with it.. getting tired of the far right wing BS machine so anything that aggravates them is a winner in my book
Astrojanitor Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I think he was comparing Obamas golf game to Hitler. It seems Obama can't get out of the bunkers either. Ah HAHAHAHA
GG Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 PS - why aren't all posters in this thread warned or banned for talking politics on the Bills' board?
dwight in philly Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 PS - why aren't all posters in this thread warned or banned for talking politics on the Bills' board? free speech??????

Agreed, he did nothing wrong, he has every right to say what he wants to say, like ESPN has every right to remove him from their broadcast because of his comments, and everyone has the right to agree or disagree with his comments. But seriously, stop posting, cause you are really making a case for HWjr being a sharper tool in the shed then you. Right in his comment he said that ''You used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe, I think, the president.'' Williams replied, ''Well, that is true. But I'm telling you like it is.'' Right there, in black and white (or whatever color you may have your text set to), he admits that he compares the president to Hitler, unless, in your mind and his, Netanyahu is one of the most hated men in the world.

It is a great place to express our opinions about our football team. This thread just struck a chord with me. He is still MY CINC actually guys, and so my personal feelings about him, Bush, Clinton, or whomever is CINC will always be respectfully internalized. I refuse to be a certain Senior Chief I encountered several years ago at a retirement talking badly about the CINC while up on the podium- it is highly embarrassing at the least and highly unprofessional at the most as a senior NCO. I retire in early 2018, and so I'll be enduring many more of these kinds of things until I am piped ashore. I'm just hoping that we don't go into a depression if we're not there already and still arguing about comments about Hitler comparisons and pointing fingers...
DC Tom Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Borderline treason? Perhaps HWJ should be taken away for "re-education", yavol? Damn.....Godwin-ing something is so easy and so much fun. Bush is Hitler, Scott Walker is Hitler, Obama is Hitler.....personally Im convinced DC Tom is Hitler. Works for da gubmit, irrational superiority complex....yeah...he's Hitler. I've always considered myself more of a Reinhardt Heydrich type... PS - why aren't all posters in this thread warned or banned for talking politics on the Bills' board? We're not LA.

Of course not. You are trying to minimalize the unbelievable extent to which his comments were ignorant, hate-inducing, offensive, unfathomable, etc., etc. (all the while wearing an Alabama hat, which is amazing BTW) Maybe you need a refresher on exactly who Adolf Hitler was. Go to his wikipedia page or something. He did a lot worse things than not reduce unemployment as quickly as he had predicted.

It's all about who Hitler IS: he's an archetype for, among other things, suppression of individual rights and promotion of racialism and statism. Which is part of the problem: people feel free to use the archetype in their own contexts, while loathe any reference outside their contexts as reflecting the person. As evidenced by all the people who are now getting their panties bunched over "Obama is Hitler," who freely expressed without compunction the idea that Bush was Hitler. There's also the little issue of taking Hank Williams Jr. at all seriously. To me, that's a bigger issue than comparing anyone to an archetype.

To me, that's a bigger issue than comparing anyone to an archetype. He's a prime example of what is wrong with this country- the very people who decry what is going on in Washington have no clue as to how to do good for the country once they smash what exists. You cannot just want to destroy what is failing, but to have actual solutions to do good. This is not what we need in Washington, and if he thinks he's going to run for office after this he's lost his mind. Edited October 4, 2011 by BmoreBills
shrader Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I just want to point out that Hank Williams III is amazing. So Deadspin is right, talent can skip generations. On the plus side, if Hank 2 wasn't such a lousy father, Hank 3 probably wouldn't be as good an artist. I was going to ask about that. I know he's out there, but I'm not the least bit familiar with any of his work.

EasternOHBillsFan Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 what does wearing a university of alabama baseball hat have any relevance?? . what are you trying to infer? Hank Williams, Jr. is a conservative. George Wallace was a conservative. George Wallace is from Alabama. SIMPLE. j/k
Mr. WEO Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 moral courage isn't enough in this world- you have to be intelligent and strong not only in purpose but in making decisions based upon rational thought processes. No one that is worth his salt just pushes a button or makes a leadership decision based upon emotion or an agenda. Like when you wrote this, you mean?: "...f*** you you stupid, arrogant, thoughtless b**ch and stick all of your snide Bills comments up your a**." No emotional button pushing repsonse there, huh?

No emotional button pushing repsonse there, huh? I have no desire to run for public office... I am terribly impatient and I'm not a public figure. I curse like a sailor, so what? FAIL. At the risk of making this a full-fledged political thread, I think you're mistaken in thinking that both sides threw around the Hitler thing as haphazardly as one another. I for one, despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and tens of thousands of American soldiers have died as a direct result of his foreign policies, would NEVER compare George Bush to Adolf Hitler. I don't remember that being quite as prominent when he was president. Now on the other hand, emails were swirling around corporate offices everywhere before Obama even gave his inaugural address, comparing him to Stalin, because of course, he's a Communist- you know, lowest tax rates in 50 years and everything... "You sound like someone worth arguing with." You smell. Edited October 4, 2011 by metzelaars_lives
