Prediction: Tebow

Recommended Posts

Not pointing directly at you matter. But... isn't that what many said about Fitz? I wish there was a way to bring up the Fitz is no good posts and he will never be a winner posts in the past two years. Just saying.

I think the most amazing thing was how many posters thought we were going to cut Fitzpatrick before last season-this was AFTER he had come in and was the QB responsible for 5 of the 6 2009 victories.

By that point, he had proven to be the most consistent WINNING QB on the team.

Most of the cut Fitzpatrick brigade used the old "Ralph is Cheap" stuff and thought just because he was the highest paid QB on the roster going into 2010, the Bills were going to cut him & save $. It was as if what he showed in 2009 wasn't enough.

Now I must admit, I still viewed him as a top notch backup on a Super Bowl contender, like Frank Reich, but so far he's exceeded my expectations-which is great. I'd rather be proven wrong by him winning a Super Bowl as the starter than be right.

These Tebow threads are getting riduculous...by virtually everyone who followed the Broncos in camp, Tebow was soundly outplayed by a UFA QB out of college(Minnesota?) and made the team by virtue of being a recent first round pick they had invested a lot of money in...all things being equal, he would have gotten cut.

Tebow is not a good QB prospect in the NFL, he looked horrible in playing time in the preseason and is well on his way to being out of the NFL in a few years

Give the guy a break. He had three starts last year and showed some flashes, including having a 300-yard passing game.

Unless someone gives him a shot (not saying the bills should), we'll never know what kind of a prospect he is.

Its been rumored that Tebow will be gone in Denver next year(Draftek) and I believe We will be his landing spot. The situation will be similar to Montana/Young where Fitz starts for 5 or 6 more years and Tebow will be groomed to be a great QB behind him, we can only hope that we get 4 superbowl wins from them. An indirect endorsement of Tebow came from Fitz's Harvard coach in that he said Fitz was just like Tim Tebow but a better passer. With Tebows willingness to learn and work ethic, Gailly will turn him into a all pro QB as well and will be Fitz 2.0.

Barbarian, you've been eating too much cooked meat lately. Take it raw. "Better passer" is a significant difference.

Tebow's got game, character, and a work ethic, but Maybin and other Bills projects prove a certain underlying level of talent is needed.

For QB, we need to start with someone who can throw.

I think this is a common misconception by fans; thinking someone hasn't been given a "shot" if they haven't been a starter for 8, 10, 16 games.

Being on an NFL roster is "the shot". People who evaluate and coach football players for a living are generally pretty good at understanding who is a real player and who is not once they get that player into their camp and can evaluate them all day, every day in practice. This is particularly true when the guy was a high profile college player and high draft pick (such players don't get overlooked like 7th rounders).

Seriously, how many first round picks have been given up as busts and later gone on to great careers elsewhere?

Teams and coaches have "their guys," and if you're not one of their guys, a lot of times you don't get the opportunity to prove yourself in real game action.

Just think-- guys like Tom Brady and Kurt Warner were never given a chance until the starters were injured.

And why would they have when they were backing up establish starters (and in Brady's case, a pro bowler)? As it happened, both those guys were starters by their second year in the NFL (hardly "never"), and both kept the job even after the starter got healthy.

No not really. Fitzpatrick had the ability to make the throws and Tebow doesn't. You clearly have to a minimum ability to make the throws required and Tebow simply doesn't.

Many QBs, including Fitz, couldn't make these throws until they met Gailey. I wouldn't quickly write-off a QB because he's stinking it up in Denver.

My prediction for Tebow is that he sits on Denver's bench for 2 more years. Then gets cut. Then gets signed by Jacksonville. After a season or two of selling tickets he ends up with the Virginia Destroyers. After winning the UFL title, somebody on TSW will start a thread about signing Tebow

On the other hand I watched the Denver-Dallas preseason game and Babe Laufenberg, the Dallas color commentator and former NFL QB, said that he watched Tebow extensively in practice the week leading up to the game and that he was the least accurate QB that he has ever seen at the NFL level. He said that this included starters, backups and third stringers. In one drill, he watched him throw to receivers with no one covering them and he was "bouncing passes to them." That doesn't exactly sound like the description of a guy that will be the next Steve Young.

Babe Laufenberg!!! A "career" 44% pass completion rate--35% while in Dallas. Yes, let's all here what Babe has to say! And his time in the NFL was so vast that he can make any comparisons off the cuff with authority.

How did Tebow throw for all of those yards and TDs in the SEC when he's now bouncing the ball to WRs in practice? Does the NFL ball weigh much more? Is is a different shape?

When Denver drafted Tebow, it was one of the worst 1st round picks of all time. The best thing Tebow can do is change positions to TE & hope for the best. Just another example of how over his head Josh McDaniels was and how insane the higher ups were to listen to him.

When a team jettisons a highly drafted QB on his 1st contract, and gets virtually nothing in return, it's usually a very bad sign. The Broncos have used a 2010 1st round pick & will get a 2012 5th rounder at best-in other words, if he's let go, Denver considers him a bust at QB & it's a fire sale. Tebow is quickly becoming the Aaron Maybin of QBs.

Let's get real here before people start throwing out names of other traded QBs: Favre was a second round pick traded for a 1st round pick 1 year later, Young was a special USFL draft pick traded for a 2nd & a 4th round pick, hardly the fire sale you'll see on Tebow.

he has stated he wont change positions.

But a few years of not starting may change his mind. He has the perfect build for an H Back.

To the OP, Not sure i would give anything up for him. Why? He showed a little here and there, but why start a controversy? Everyone always thinks the 2nd qb is the answer when your starter has abad game or two. With Tebow on the bench that wouldn't be a good scenario.

I really hope the Bills stay away from Tebow. His abilities do not seem fit the NFL. Why would the BIlls want a guy that is having a hard time even staying on the Denver team? Every other day there is a rumor of him being traded, cut, bumped down to third string. I know he played his heart out in college, and he has the Christian thing going, but all that doesn't mean squat if he can't play in the NFL.

Not a Christian thing, but a Christian lifestyle. Tebow is blessed and he will have his time to shine. I hope its in buffalo. Things are slow for him right now, but he'll be fine. He just needs to be in the right organization and I think B-LOW would do the trick for him.

Everyone wants to knock him, but he has the heart of a champion. Simply because he is a champion. On a collegic level that is.

Its funny how my friend and I were just talking about Tebow yesterday. He's a mile high fan. I told him let John Fox keep messing around. Tebow is going to end up smack dab in Buffalo. Imho, I think CG could work wonders with him.

Hype dies hard.

PTR

I weep for Andrew Luck cheerleaders and I dread the day--three years from now--when this very thread will resurface but with some bird brain trying to sell us THOSE goods.

I'm certain that even when Luck and Tebow have each entered their second decades of insurance/auto sales, there will still be a mighty band of TSW loyalists who will insist we give one or both of them a tryout.

Tebow missed an entire offseason of reps which is huge to a young qb. He produced in his starts when he played as rookie, including a 300 yard game. IMO, he is like Fitz in which they are both better gamers than practice player.

If the Bills could get him for a 4th or less, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Wtf does Laufenberg's completion % have to do with this? It doesn't take Joe Montana to see someone bouncing passes to their intended receivers. Laufenberg has either played or covered the NFL for 30 years. He has seen a few QBs in his time. For him to say that Tebow is the least accurate that he has ever seen says something to reasonable listeners.

There's no question that Fitz and Gailey are a good fit, and that Fitz' play so far this year shows significant improvement over last year, which was an improvement on previous years.

However, to say Fitz "couldn't make these throws" until he met Gailey isn't supported by facts. Die-hard Rams fans still remember Fitz' first game, where he led them to a 33-27 come from behind victory. In the process, he went 21-35 for 310 yds passing and a QB rating of 117.4. Was he ready to be an NFL QB? Fitz himself says "I wasn't ready to play in this league then".

But he could make the throws before he met Gailey, no question.

"but a better passer" is not an insignificant difference. George Soros is just like me, but a little richer.

You must be pretty rich.

over exaggeration, we have all seen him throw passes in the League and he was fine and he was accurate in college as well.
