It would not be a surprise that the British invented the Palestinian....since they invented the Jordanian, Syrian, Iraqi, and pretty much everybody else in that part of the world. These people had tribes, city-states and some squabbling little kingdoms when the French and British showed up and started making nations out of the mess that they found. Not saying colonialism is good...just saying what it did.
