Sisyphean Bills Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I still think he's just as good as Belichick.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 The Browns are so stupid. They have Rob Ryan building a good 3-4 D, then decide to switch to a tampa two and bring in bending and breaking Dickie J? WTF? Who made that decision.... Ralph gave them "special" insider information. now if he could do that to the Jets, Pats and Fins we would be all set.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Seems like the perfect time to link to my Jauron swan song Youtube clip: youtube.com/watch?v=PWFQfnDm2k0 Hell yeah that's awesome, he ranks right up there with Mularky,Kay Stephenson and Hank Bull-ugh.

judman Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Soooooo glad to see him doing what he does best for somebody else!
GaryPinC Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 We will agree to disagree whatever the situation is it was jaurons fault. He might have said he had the play called but even if he did he clearly did't call it in time. That's cool, I was going to suggest the same thing. I guess in my perspective if you forget that Dick Jauron is involved, ANY new coaching staff in its first NFL game will have issues with timely substitutions and playcalling. The diffence-maker in my mind is that Jauron prohibited his on-field players from calling a time out without his permission. That, to me, is the real Jauron failure here. gobillsinytown Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Here's part of the article from PFT: “When the offense is ready to snap the ball, we’ve got to be ready to play defense,” Jauron said. “That’s my responsibility and I didn’t get it done on that play.” The Browns’ defense didn’t have its play called when the Bengals hurried to the line on that decisive touchdown, and at the time the ball was snapped, Jauron was looking down at his play sheet. There’s no excuse for that lack of preparedness, as Jauron acknowledged." There's really not much more to add. They didn't have a play called, which is a little mind boggling to me considering the situation. Then again, "mind boggling" describes Dick to a tee.
first_and_ten Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 He admitted he didn't get a play called in time for the Bowns D and that allowed A.J. Green to score the winning touchdown. It was on PFT. Ironically as I was typing this I realized I forgot to shut the hose off and slightly flooded my garage but atleast I didn't cost the Bills a win. Reminds me of a Miama game where he was shown hesitating to throw a challenge flag on a long pass play. His hesitation cost the Bills in that game and in probably many more plays we didn't even know about. My question is how is it that incompetant coaches just keep getting recycled into different jobs when thay screw up in the jobs they have?

There is more than one step in calling the defensive play, though. It is possible that Jauron called the play, but it wasn't called on the field. Still, why were they huddling anyway? Any way one wants to slice it, they were caught with their pants around their ankles.
