BillnutinHouston Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Was anyone thinking that Merriman looked a lot slower off the ball as the day wore on? Fatigue/conditioning issue possibly?
Wagon Circler Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 He didn't seem the same after he returned from the injury. Hopefully ahe'll feel better after a week.
clancynut Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 He wasn't as a big of a factor as expected.
billsfan in n.h Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 it looked like he hurt his arm earlier in the game.he ran off the field, hopefully it wasnt nothing too serious
Mike in Syracuse Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I was surprised how much he was played lining up as a DE I also noticed that the Bills barely blitzed.
Kaenon Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Was anyone thinking that Merriman looked a lot slower off the ball as the day wore on? Fatigue/conditioning issue possibly? I thought he looked old and slow today to be honest...but I am a big Merriman supporter. Not sure what the deal was, if it was him lining up in that spot vs. the LT or what, nearly every play...I don't know.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I was surprised how much he was played lining up as a DE I also noticed that the Bills barely blitzed. Yeah, what was that about? He had his hand down pretty much the entire game.
Big Turk Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Not really, they continuously were rolling Cassell away from him on play action fakes for most of the first half...Kinda hard to get pressure on those quick bootleg throws...
CBD Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 it looked like he hurt his arm earlier in the game.he ran off the field, hopefully it wasnt nothing too serious He was off the field for the rest of that drive, but played the remainder of the game. Doubt he would have been back out there if it was something serious.
Joe Miner Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Perhaps they were trying to stop/contain the run instead of rushing the passer?
Doc Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Yeah, it was good to see he came back. And the Chefs paid a lot of attention to him. And if they had this type of performance without him making a lot of noise, imagine when he does?
jr1 Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Cassel's in remedial QB class so it didn't really matter
cmjoyce113 Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 He played the run pretty damn well I thougth at times.
CSBill Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 only rushed four all day, sometimes only three . . . didn't really worry about applying pressure. But I would guess that injury didn't help either
BfloBillsFan Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Possibly a conditioning issue, but No need to show everything in game one. He still adds much to the Defense.
Bob in STL Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) I was surprised how much he was played lining up as a DE I also noticed that the Bills barely blitzed. 1. They did not need to blitz, they had decent pressure without it. 2. KC killed them last year with runs against the blitz. Was anyone thinking that Merriman looked a lot slower off the ball as the day wore on? Fatigue/conditioning issue possibly? He looked a bit worn as the game went on. Normal and to be expected. He still makes a difference and opponents need to acccount for him. Edited September 11, 2011 by Bob in STL
John from Riverside Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 this was a run domanant team.....they were doing what the defensive scheme called for.... And merrimen was getting extra attn all day......which really helped the other guys
