Greg de'Ville Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 ...the Iggles needed a win Sunday over Dallas to secure home field throughout (which they got). But what a price they paid with TO going down, probably for the season. It brings up the question a coach in that situation faces--how much do key starters play knowing that playoff positioning (in this case, homefield) is already a done deal? Reid has to play his key guys to keep them sharp (or in TO's case, sharpie). But the chance of an ill-timed injury--especially on the cusp of the playoffs--is always in the back of a coach's mind. How much do you play them and when? Reid put up a brave front in his PC publicly discussing his remaining WRs, but privately, he's gotta be concerned. Stinkston and Mitchell have been way too inconsistent. Greg Lewis is a possibliity--he may get some extra footballs thrown his way. McMullen will be activated, but he's a project. The thing that is really freaky? Look at the NFC East standings. The Iggles have built up a HALF-SEASON lead on the rest of the field (13-1 to 5-9 for Dal/NYG/Wsh). Almost unheard of.
Alaska Darin Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Especially after Pinkston again alligator armed a pass while taking a peek to find where Williams was coming from. Dude's a disaster.

Dude's a disaster. 169761 you see that? What the hell is wrong with that guy? You'd figure for how much he got ripped on for that LAST week, he'd be looking for hits. kitty.
ACor58 Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Greg: You bring up a great point. I think back to the Eagles / Packers game and how they had the game well in control yet Reid continued to play his starters well into the 4th quarter. You have to be smarter than that sometimes.

Friggin' Iggles fans. He's scared. It was a good thing he didn't catch the ball, because RW would have tattoed him. Oh, he did anyway. Wuss.
Like A Mofo Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 But then if the players do not play then Reid will be ripped like Shanahan was in 1996 with the Denver Broncos when the team comes up flat in the playoffs.

Alaska Darin Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Did I miss something this weekend? Did he short-arm a potential catch again? 169831 Watch NFL Prime Time. Just before the ball got to him (wide open), he took a peek to his left to find Roy Williams and the ball went right through his hands. Ridiculous.
