The bubble people living in Washington and New York are so completely and utterly out of touch it's truly amazing. If "the stimulus worked" is going to be their message going forward then let the left go ahead and sink themselves. The rest of this country is going through horrific economic times right now. You can see it in the polls. Americans are very angry at where this country is and where it's currently heading. Another "sugar high" stimulus is not what's needed, repealing obamacare is. What the left and the MSM won't dare admit is that obamacare is the dagger in this non-recovery. What they still don't know is how angry and bad off Americans are right now. Bush played his part, but after the wars he was in no position and had no cache left to touch the subprime mortgage issues. This embarrassing partisan diatribe by Reid, of course, is followed by a request from Reid for people to put aside their embarrassing partisan diatribes and "work together." If it means the extra half trillion (or so) by the federal govt helped offset cuts by local and state govts and prevented a worse outcome, then yes. If it means that corporate profits were higher because of it, then yes again. If it means that it turned the economy around and lowered unemployment, then nope. That's what happens when you put people in charge who learned equilibrium models only, and who have no idea what to do when hit with a debt-deflation crisis. While Paulson, Bernanke and Geithner focused on resolving the problems from over-leveraged finance, they did very little (if anything) to resolve the problems from over-leveraged households.
