Astrobot Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Buccaneers have claimed former #Bills TE Zack Pianalto - he will be on the team's final 53-man roster. This from the site that reported McGee cut...
Rubes Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Interesting. Wonder if this opens up the spot for Roosevelt...
Astrobot Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Now confirmed by Bucs_Nation Sander Philipse The Bucs have claimed tight end Zack Pianalto, per @BrianAyrault . Pianalto caught 5 balls for 59 yards with the Bills in preseason
BuffaloBob Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Good for him. It must have really sucked to survive cut-down day, only to find out the next day that you were waived for some other guy at your position they picked up off of waivers. Edited September 5, 2011 by BuffaloBob
Captain Hindsight Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Good for him, I'm glad he found a home
Kelly the Dog Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Interesting. Wonder if this opens up the spot for Roosevelt... I think there has always been one spot left open on our PS. The TE Mike Caussin is on it but not Pianalto. Roosevelt could still be put there but we already have one WR in Aiken. I would imagine that an OL will be signed soon, as only one, Switzer, a OC, is there. Edited September 5, 2011 by Kelly the Fair and Balanced Dog

Jasper has been switched to OL so now there are 2
Kelly the Dog Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Jasper has been switched to OL so now there are 2 True. Good point. I still would not be surprised if another OG or OT were signed, as Jasper is very likely quite far away from being put in a game should an injury occur and a OT or OG were needed on the active roster.
TPS Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I half wondered if keeping Pianalto was a bit of a ruse? I know it's a stretch, but maybe they wanted Caussin to make it to the PS and kept Pia knowing he'd be the first release casualty. Or maybe it's just the wine...?
Arkady Renko Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I half wondered if keeping Pianalto was a bit of a ruse? I know it's a stretch, but maybe they wanted Caussin to make it to the PS and kept Pia knowing he'd be the first release casualty. Or maybe it's just the wine...? It's possible, but how would they know that a good TE prospect would be released ahead of time?
TPS Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 It's possible, but how would they know that a good TE prospect would be released ahead of time? Not saying that. I was suggesting that maybe they liked Caussin better and it was a way to hide him? It's a stretch for sure. That said, and taking a peek at the Pats roster, it was pretty doubtful that the Pats would keep 4 TEs, and they weren't going to get rid of the 3 they kept. So I'd say the odds were pretty high that Smith was going to be let go, for any team that had their eye on him.
