Simple theory, who's going to be the player YOU think is going to turn it on for the BILLS this year. They guy that steps it up, rips it up and leaves others teams wondering who the heck was that guy ala Stevie Johnson last year.

My Pick offensively goes to Spiller. No disrespect intended to Fred Jackson, think he's a hell of a ball player and person (bumped into him twice locally and he was great) but I think the light is on for Spiller and he realizes how to play at the NFL level.

Defensively I think Shawne Merriman shuts all the doubters up about how he's done.

One last thing, Kamar Aiken will be on the main roster by the end of the season and contributing.

#1 Merriman. - Do I need to explain this?

#2 Parrish - Roscoe Parrish will be an unexpected star in this offense. Roscoe will be on Primetime, and they will have to come up with a nickname, because he will light it up. That's my call. I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

It has become clear, to me anyway :D, that the type of offense Gailey wants to run is a deception/speed/quickness from the skill players and 2 second throws from Fitz. This is Roscoe's game to the letter. There will be lots and lots of WR screens, reverses, and of course, snap throws to Roscoe...all done in order to get him in space with the ball, on the move, or standing still, it doesn't really matter. Roscoe in space is the key. He is far quicker than all but a very few opposing D players, so space is all he needs to gain a serious advantage. If he is already moving in that space...then they are screwed. We all know what he can do when he is moving in space...on punt returns. The difference is: as a WR there are only 2-4 people that can actually tackle him, rather than 5-8 on a punt.

There is no middle ground here. Either this approach will work, and be used a lot, or, it will fail miserably. Much depends on Roscoe himself, and whether he uses the assets he is given on each play properly.

I agree with you about Spiller. The sky is the limit for him. While he may never be an every down back, I think he has a ton of potential and should be a home run threat this year.

If Merriman can stay healthy he will be all world IMHO. As I've said before, he's either lights out or IR'd for the season. If he's playing he will destroy opposing QB's.

On Defense, I think it will be Danny Batten when he gets on the field. Early in the season Kelsay, who I don't like to bash, will see less time on the field and Batten more.

On Offense I think that Parish could be the guy, but I also think Gailey likes the big wideouts and that will limit his chances. The other guy I think will step up is Scott Chandler

Just my opinion

I'm thinking Danny Batten on D and David Nelson on O.

If Merriman is healthy, it's no surprise he can play to a high level. Ditto a lot is expected of Dareus. So even though I expect both of them to shine, I can't consider them "breakout" players.

I believe Spiller will improve his play and contribute, I don't expect him to have a breakout year though. Maybe next year. No real rationale - I guess from what I see he's learning, but he ain't quite learned.

I'm going batten as well, with all the attention given to Merriman, dareus and williams, batten and his natural pass rushing abilities and better feel for the game will take the other olb spot and end the season with 8+ sacks.

While I agree with you on Gaileys offensive approach, deception, speed & quickness must have multiple weapons, Chan has talked about getting Spiller into space as well, and if they're both in the game at the same time, it WILL creat problems for opposing defenses!, Add Fred and 2 more wideouts and all Fitz has to do is find 1 of them in space and BOOM! The offense could be "Lights On" fun to watch. If the defense plays "Lights out", that could mean bad news for opposing Electric Companies. :flirt:

break out players may change from week to week . . . just sayin'

Exactly!

Batten and Chandler were who I thought of immediately, and if Parrish can catch the 2-second throw into space that has been working all preseason, you nailed it!

I think McKelvin starts becoming a big time playmaker, which he has shown flashes of at times. I think he gets into his own head. An improved pass rush should really help.

I don't think he'll have a breakout season this year, but soon I think Kamar Aiken is going to have a breakout season soon. A couple years ago I saw potential in a young reciever by the name of Stevie Johnson and think Kamar is on the same path as Stevie. Kamar had good hands and was a strong ball carrier. If he isn't plucked off our practice squad I wouldn't be suprised if (due to injuries) he got so playing time this year.

don't really know if they'll be "breaking out" or not, but two players that i will be watching for chris hairston and kelvin sheppard. hairston looks like he has a bit of nasty in him, and shep seems to have a serious nose for the ball. honorable mention goes to scott chandler and kellen heard...i just really like having big guys on my team!

Nobody on this board would rather be wrong about it being only Parrish, and have it be multiple guys kicking ass, more than me. I would love to see what amounts to an updated for 2011 "run and shoot" offense...that can also run the ball consistently, and involves the TE position...somehow. I don't know how, I am not an NFL coach. :D

Here's what I do know: If Spiller can motion out to one slot, which should also expose the defense they are playing btw, and have Roscoe in the other...that's nasty. How many team's 3-4th best corner can cover those guys? Or the other way, how many team's 3rd best corner can cover Steve Johnson? You work in the TE, David Nelson, and disguise a few plays that look like short ones, but are actually bombs to Johnson...this could be good.

We'll see. Right now I see Parrish being more experienced, and more likely to be in position to make plays...with the occasional big play going to Johnson. That's the thing. We almost HAVE to start hurting people with Parrish/Spiller/Fred Jackson catching balls, for Johnson to get a chance. Or, this could all be September Wishful Thinking :D
