bbb Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Only 56. He and his brothers were quite a team: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6931413/lee-roy-selmon-former-tampa-bay-buccaneer-dies
ajzepp Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 One of my earliest football memories...RIP LeeRoy
Corp000085 Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 RIP... His brother was quoted as saying he was "stable" like 2 or 3 hours ago. I guess things happen fast when you have a massive stroke. I lost an aunt to one. It's tough.
EasternOHBillsFan Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Death by brain trauma runs in my family... I could not live like Dick Clark does after a stroke.. I would be unable to cope.
blogic2 Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I went to school with his niece. That is a great family. Please pray for their peace and comfort.
MattM Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 RIP, Lee Roy, you were a great player and from what I'm reading elsewhere, a great human being as well. A bit disgusting that ESPN doesn't even really seem to be noting this prominently at all on it's NFL page, but then again, I guess Lee Roy should have known better than to not play in New York, Boston, Chicago or LA. I can still remember Lee Roy and his brother playing--man, am I old....
EasternOHBillsFan Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I can still remember Lee Roy and his brother playing--man, am I old.... Frank Sinatra, George Burns, Jimmy Stewart, James Cagney, Sammy Davis Jr., Lucille Ball, and on and on... good people die, and then you wonder what happened to the world. 56 is just way too young to me... it makes me sad.
BobDVA Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Lee Roy was one of my favorite players back in the day. I am sad to read this news, my best wishes for his family.
Tcali Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Only 56. He and his brothers were quite a team: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6931413/lee-roy-selmon-former-tampa-bay-buccaneer-dies a dominant player ala Reggie White and LT....didn't get the publicity though
bbb Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 a dominant player ala Reggie White and LT....didn't get the publicity though I think he got more, along with his 2 brothers, when they were at Oklahoma.....He played on some pretty bad teams in Tampa.
joemac Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 RIP Lee Roy, the good guys always go too soon.
KRC Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 RIP Lee Roy. A great player and an even greater person.
st. pete gogolak Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 He was a huge presence in the Bay area. The expressway is named after him. He had a very successful restaurant chain as well. Very sad news.
