CardinalScotts Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Moorman has be outstanding for every year but last year- There is more to punting than distance...he's a great directional kicker, he's great at killing it inside the 5 and he's great in bad weather. Wow people - yes he's great not good great
Pirate Angel Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Nope, definitely no room for an extra punter. Moorman was never going anywhere... he has a body of work. Forrest was only using this preseason as an audition for other NFL teams who might be less satisfied with their kicking game. Thanks god there would be 50,000 posts on here about how cheap Ralph is.
Smears Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Reid Forrest had a 24 yard punt the other day. The one thing the Bills always have had is a decent special teams. Lindell and Mooreman have earned their positions. They are old trusty. I was shocked about Paul Hubbard. I really thought he had a clear shot for a spot at least on the practice squad. Hope he gets a chance somewhere else.
Malazan Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 If the kid is nearly as good or better they should have tried to deal moorman for something of value. Assuming you can get something of value for a punter I guess. in what world do people trade anything of value for a punter?
Captain Hindsight Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Are we really talking about a backup punter?
akm0404 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Last year, Moorman was 23rd in net yards per punt, and 24th in gross yards per punt. Only 2 regular NFL punters had fewer punts inside the 20. While he is a bottom-of-the-league punter now, the consolation prize is that punters don't really matter that much. He is a cool guy too. He does lead the league in ripping off his chinstrap in disgust though Edited August 30, 2011 by akm0404
