CosmicBills
I saw that the other day....I thought it was because of how badly Cowboys and Aliens bombed...... Its not the only big project that has recently been put on hold/canceled.....I have a couple of PARF friends that their kids had roles in the "the dark tower" and the same thing happened The Dark Tower was a bummer. But what an ambitious project! They wanted to not only do a film franchise, but parlay that into a TV series in between the films. Universal is gonna take a bath with Battleship (which already has cost them 200 mill conservatively). They also have RIPD and another big tentpole that I'm forgetting slated for 2012. I think Dark Tower just became too ambitious -- even for producers as good as Grazer and Howard. Then again, Ron Howard doesn't strike me as the right choice to direct that adaptation. So maybe it was a good thing.

The only other tent-pole film I can think of that Universal has next summer is "Snow White and The Huntsman". Which is really going to need to sell itself. I still can't believe that we have 2 Snow White movies next year. And whose brilliant idea was it that thought Kristen Stewart is the fairest one of all over Charlize Theron? As for "Battleship", I think we are looking at our first bomb of the summer. But hey, we do get to see Rihanna in her movie debut.

I can only assume that the choice was easy because they figure that all those Twighlight fans will flock to the theatres to see anything that emotionless untalented "acctress" is in. Unless ofcourse they have decided that Snow White should be EMO, then I say, good choice on the hire!
Delete This Account
I've been wondering this for a while, and finally decided to ask. I heard Disney cancelled their remake of the Lone Ranger. I've heard it was to be a movie including werewolfs (which is the most ill-advised movie concept since Gigli). I've heard Disney cancelled it because the budget was at $250M. So here's my question: How in the name of the flying spaghetti monster does it cost a quarter-billion dollars to remake the Lone Ranger with werewolves? drugs, lots and lots of drugs, and liquor, topped with more drugs, and lavish parties with lots of drugs and women and liquor, and corporate jets ... have you not watched Entourage? ... and high-priced agents, with lawyers and drug suppliers and pimps and hangers-on, who require more drugs and have bad ideas, but no one realizes they're bad ideas, because they're very high on drugs, until finally somoene sobers up one late morning and says, "jeesuz, Lone Ranger and werewolfs, that's just plain dumb. ... hey, what about Flipper and werewolves?" rinse, wash and repeat. jw Edited August 25, 2011 by john wawrow

Only an stupid f'n moron would ask such a moronic f'n question as that! Every one knows it takes a f'n TON of money to get a werewolf to do a movie! They don't work cheap! What a f'n idiot! And filming can get very sketchy... See that they can only shoot during full moons...
