Oh...what??

Ok, I've seen lots of crap be "reported" in my day so I can't buy this without skepticism, but if this is true...wow!

Crony capitalism gone mad!

That NBC story is craptacular - so slanted and over-the-top it could have been written by...well...you.

The HuffPo story is much better...and scarier for not being sensationalized. While there's an interesting concept in there (using death benifits policies to backstop pension plans), if the story is even close to accurate then how they apparently structured it was unbelievably stupid.

not if you are Phil Grahm and stand to make millions from the scheme. Perry looks, acts and now apparently tries to profit from being a televangelist-like politician. I was shocked Bush was elected president, being so stupid and all, so I won't be surprised this time if Perry is our next doofus in chief and you clowns will be screaming "still blaming Perry for ......" in ten years after his f ups come home to roost

This is great. Not sure if he meant this to come out this way--but maybe he did!--David Brooks basically labels the Republicans a loon party:

He does very well with the alternative-reality right — those who don’t believe in global warming, evolution or that Obama was born in the U.S.

So, yes, it is time to take Perry seriously as a Republican nominee...

Hammer, meet nail

True, false or somewhere in between, what does this story have to do with capitalism?

Because they did it to "make Wall Street speculators rich." Which, in itself, was a crazily wild speculation. The facts were disturbing enough without the sensationalist "Republicans and Wall Street are trying to kill grandma for profit!"

Drowning baby kittens-----socialism gone wild!

I do recall a statement from someone (in the real world, not here) a few years ago to the effect that Bush kills puppies and kittens. It was a serious statement, too.
