Captain Checkoff

Fitz needs to stop throwing key interceptions at critical points in the game.

Have you ever asked yourself "what makes it a critical point in the game?"

This seems like a "well, DUH!" question superficially - but a moment's reflection should say it is not.

Fact: Aaron Rodgers threw as many INTs as TDs in 6 games last year.

He threw more INTs than TD in one game.

GB won 3 of those games (2 INTs/game) along with a win where he had 1 more TD than INT.

And then there's the playoff game against the Bears where Rodgers threw two INTs, no TDs - and GB won.

Would it be great if Rodgers threw fewer INTs? Sure.

But it's not necessarily "a critical point in the game" because GB has an outstanding D that can stop the other team and give the ball back so Rodgers can try again.

Could do a similar analysis on Brees, Rothliswhatsists, etcetera. - as you might recall, Big Ben chucked two INTs during the playoffs against the Jets (and threw for 0 TD that game)

I remember thinking "oh crap, here we go, Jets in the Superbowl". Except it was a total non-event: the Pitts D held tough, and Ben got it back.

Not saying Fitz is equivalent to one of these guys, not saying Fitz doesn't need to be more accurate.

Point is: Football is a team game. How critical a particular point in the game is, depends upon the entirety of the team play.

That's why none of the SB Bills have ever blamed Norwood for "Wide Right". They have all said, to a man, "it shouldn't have come down to that".
