Cotton Fitzsimmons Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 In Ed Kilgore's latest offering, he explains why Fitz may be entrenched at starter for the forseeable future, and goes on to explain why Trent was dubbed "Captain Checkoff" ... yes Checkoff. Good effort, Ed. Have yourself a read if you get a minute: Fitz Gives the Bills Hope "Captain Checkoff" was a nickname that stuck whether he deserved it or not, and while Edwards did have good mobility, he simply couldn't stay healthy.
Sig1Hunter Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 He was no Captain! Anyone should know that he was only an ensign...

Wow...Ed's usually good with stuff like this.
PromoTheRobot Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 A better D last year might have earned us 2-3-4 more wins. If Fitz and the offense can make even a small improvement we will be in the wild card hunt. PTR

Captain Checkoff sounds like Russian military, or wasn't that the guy who fired the lasers on the SS Enterprise? Edited August 8, 2011 by muffmonster

Cotton Fitzsimmons Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Moot point now that the Amish Musket is under center. Well played Mr. Jauronimo! Jolly good show!

Rockinon Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Captain Checkoff sounds like Russian military, or wasn't that the guy who fired the lasers on the SS Enterprise? I thought the same thing when I read the article this morning
Doc Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Captain Checkoff sounds like Russian military, or wasn't that the guy who fired the lasers on the SS Enterprise? "Vere do you keep the nuclear wessels?"
Nervous Guy Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 "Vere do you keep the nuclear wessels?" Ensign Authorization code: nine-five-wictor-wictor-two!
Lenigmusx Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 He was no Captain! Anyone should know that he was only an ensign... Well one could question that because I do believe he eventually did make captain. Wasn't he captain of the Ship that Kahn steals in "The Wrath of Kahn"?? Puts those bug things in his ear? Anyway...LOL
Cash Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Badly misspelled Chekov, and got his rank way wrong. Plus, I don't remember Trent being nicknamed after Chekov in the first place. Anyone know why? Did he pronounce V's as W's or something?
dave mcbride Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 You, sir, are not up to speed on Captain (i.e., Commander) Chekov: "Chekov also substitutes for Mr. Spock at the science officer station when necessary. His promotion to lieutenant for Star Trek: The Motion Picture brings with it his transfer as the ship's tactical officer and chief of security. By the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Chekov has been promoted to commander and executive officer aboard the USS Reliant. In that film, Khan Noonien Singh uses a creature that wraps itself around Chekov's cerebral cortex to control him and his captain. Chekov overcomes the creature's mind control and serves as Enterprise tactical officer in the film's climactic battle against Khan." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavel_Chekov
BEAST MODE BABY! Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 In Alameda... Al -- la -- meeee-- da Points for an obtuse Star Trek IV reference. And how come dudes on message boards (us) know more than some dude who gets paid to report on sports? (i.e. Captain Checkdown). Oi.

At the end of 6, why is Chekov retiring while Sulu is off on his own ship?
