For those of you who think JP is not ready...

You know, even SpikedLemonade was more optimistic than you at this point last year. Even when he decided that last year's woes were all because of Drew, he still wasn't as singleminded as you.

What does optimistic have to do with facts?

Singleminded? Please... are you denying that these 3 things are eveident in Drew.?

1) slow to set up in pocket

2) slow to read and make decisions

3) immobile

You think Evans will catch 90 balls this year? You just said Evans is looking better than Price?

How about you get back to after Sat. nites game with your completed assignment (below) and give me you unbiased (unsingleminded) findings.

Since Sats. game is televised... at least in WNY and CNY, please everyone watch Bledsoe closely....forget his lack of mobility. Notice in particular, from the time the ball is snapped till the time it is released. Notice also the time it takes him from the time the ball is snapped till the time he sets up. Compare that to Travis and JP and see if you notice a difference.

You're kidding right?  Marino had the quickest release ever and hardly ever got sacked, although very immobile.  Kelly was successful because he had a great offensive line.  Both would be just as good today given the same circumstances.

Plus Kelly was a tough S.O.B. Although I used to cringe when he'd do it, I loved seeing him get up after laying a hit on a linebacker...

I agree with that statement.  If he'd been born ten years earlier, he'd probably had a Marino or maybe even Kelly type career.  His skills at least to me seem like Marino's in 1994.

However the prototypical QB has changed drastically.  I doubt Kelly or Marino even at their peak could be very successful in today's NFL...

There is no way Kelly would have been able to work his magic behind any of the O-Lines we've had since he retired. He held the ball as long as Bledsoe does now.

Marino's quick release had more to do with the motion of his arm. When he'd threw it, it was difficult for safeties read him because there wasn't much backward motion to indicate direction of where it was going. It also let him get rid of the ball when a sack was coming, but that would mean a fraction of a second.

He also had at least two all pros in Dwight Stevenson and Richmond Webb to protect him. While Reuben did make the Pro Bowl year after year, I find it hard to believe he suddenly hit the wall. He's been making it on name recognition and popularity with the press for years. The last real stud O-Lineman to make the Pro Bowl was Kent Hull.

He has not always been slow making decisions. He was in Gilbride's system, but then, so was Warren Moon.

While I haven't seen last week's preseason game, I have heard more good things about his performance than bad. I like the fact he was making the short passes.

Absolutely not. He is a rookie. However, I see both him and Reed getting ~45 catches a piece. It looks like Mularkey is going to follow through on the power running game, that should be plenty enough to get us back to 8-8. Throw in a top 5 defense and I think were maybe a little better than that.

Alas, I am a prisoner in Patsie nation, so I won't be seeing any action till the regular season.

People, JP has played a little over a quarter against 4th quarter scrubs in a pre-season game.

774

but, what no one wants to think of is that our Oline in at that time, and our receivers were ALSO 3rd and 4th quarter scrubs...

So, yes, he was beating a bunch of scrubs, but he was also working with some too. Why not look at the opposite end and say "damn, that's how good he was with our 3rd string Olinemen, imagine how good he could look with the starters? And Moulds and Evans to throw to!"

See that light in the corner of your eye? It's your career dissipation light. It just went into overdrive.

If you're all as confident in MM as you seem, he'll be no fool. He'll sit down <The QB Who Must Not Be Slandered> as soon as he and his staff are confident that Losman can play.

Losman is going to be a good one.

Unfortunatly, no matter how many of those I drink, the pain of missing one of those trophies by three feet to the right never goes away. And believe me - I've tried. . .

The quicker that <TQBWMNBS> is replaced, the sooner the ascent to that level begins.

The Bills have a solid team, top-to-bottom... one that IMO would be able to mount a serious challenge for the AFC crown if it wasn't for who was under center.

For your sake, I hope TD/MM realizes that the window doesn't stay open forever. Milloy, Vincent, Spikes are veterans who won't be effective for too much longer.

Got something against beer?

967

A guy holding hands with a Pats fan while skipping through TBD together makes me a little nervous. I like beer though.

Also on the post topic, regardless of JP starting in a preseason game, he would get killed when the regular season starts and he actually has to face a defensive game plan. A bad line is a bad line. Doesn't matter who is behind it.

WHAT???? WHAT????? Are you !@#$ KIDDING ME?

It doesnt matter who is behind a bad line?

Wow... now i have officially heard it all.

If you HAVE A BAD LINE, you NEED a mobile QB... Bledsoe, to be successful in this league, needs a solid 4 second pocket. He's not gonna get it.

JP is a mobile guy

(4 carries, 37 yards).

Whether or not you agree that Losman should start, you cannot say that it doesnt matter who is behind the bad line...

The statue vs the mobile QB. . .. if i have a terrible line, I know who I want back there.

This borders on slander. The TBD Statue Rumpswabs are organizing a lynchmob!!

Point taken; it reinforces what I said: let's see him play with and against first stringers before annointing him starter for the year. Let's not "imagine" what it would be like. Let's see it and go from there.
