1billsfan Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 ...and you're worried about !@#$ing smiley faces? It's a new story and I wanted to give fair warning of how gruesome it looks to be.
DaveinElma Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I guess this is how they repay Norway for their infamously generous social welfare programs.
Booster4324 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 So one guy is behind both of these attacks? Really? Brilliant posts like this is the reason I stopped posting here. I was taking that from local (Oslo) sources, so who knows. That is why I said may. Oh, and on Slate: UPDATE #35/4:05 p.m. ET: Oslo police say that the gunman arrested at the youth meeting had previously been spotted in the capital prior to the explosions. Elsewhere, a foreign minister tells the BBC that the gunman in custody is Caucasian. Oh and welcome back, we missed you, you !@#$.
Peace Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 ...and you're worried about !@#$ing smiley faces? I endorse any call to ban emoticons. The next time I use one will be the first. They are for 13 year old girls.
Jim in Anchorage Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Nobel Peace Prize...Obama....duh. Did I have to come back to point out the !@#$ing obvious?? Are you working on Frank Sinatra's record for come backs?
Peace Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Are you working on Frank Sinatra's record for come backs? Don't you have to leave to be given credit for leaving?
Jim in Anchorage Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Don't you have to leave to be given credit for leaving? I missed the farewell tour.
Barack Obama Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Nobel Peace Prize...Obama....duh. Did I have to come back to point out the !@#$ing obvious?? Let me be clear. I was honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for my hard work and dedication in being not George W Bush. But if it were not for my predecessor being George W Bush I would not have been elected President and therefore could not have won the Nobel Prize for being not George W Bush. Clearly this bombing is therefore a problem that I inherited from the previous Administration.
The Poojer Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 its because of the fjords.... al queda was tired of being made fun of for saying it wrong.... (i am sorry for making a joke in light of this horrible situation, but humor, for me, is always some of the best medicine to deal with horrible events.) They're also saying now that it's looking like al Qaeda is behind the attack. Norway? Why attack Norway?
DrFishfinder Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Because years ago they dared publish muhammad cartoons. Was it Norway or Denmark? Either way....mass murder over cartoons is completely and utterly insane.
Jim in Anchorage Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Was it Norway or Denmark? Either way....mass murder over cartoons is completely and utterly insane. It's the will of Allah. Case closed.
Magox Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 OMG, my friend from Norway just told me that its at least 80 kids age in between 13-25 that just died.. I hope he's mistaken

I hope he's mistaken CNN is saying that now too. Reports also indicate that this was a full-blooded native Norwegian. UConn James Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) Looks like I was wrong. There are witness reports of a second shooter. Witness reports being what they are, that's questionable but still very possible. Link On the island of Utoya, panicked teens attending a Labour Party youth wing summer camp plunged into the water or played dead to avoid the assailant in the assault that may have lasted 30 minutes before a SWAT team arrived, police said. Point the First: The adage is an adage for a reason. When every second counts, police help is just minutes 30 minutes away. Amazing how bold criminals can be when they know no one can/will be shooting back at them, huh? But keep trying to take law-abiding citizens' guns away, Dems! That way we can be just like England, Canada (I read they're apparently going to get rifles and shotguns back under PM Harper later this year) and other socialist paradises where violence never happens and self-defense is never necessary , huh? Point the Second: This was at an event where the Prime Minister was to attend later that day. There were no police or security in place there?!?! (Armed, at least?) Did they believe this was an impenetrable liberal Utopia?! I don't know what's feasible as for the 6 tons of fertilizer. The suspect was apparently a farmer. For mass purchases over a certain tonnage, would it be egregious for the sales company/retailer to have to witness/inspect the fertilizer application to fields? Yeah, it's relatively rare, and yeah it would obviously add to the cost of doing business, but.... Just asking here. What would be the feasibility of that? Edited July 23, 2011 by UConn James
LeviF Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Really, think about how cringingly stupid those two words were... The man was a nationalist (i.e. anti-multiculturalism). I could see him snapping and walking into a mosque or something (I wouldn't think it's the best way of going about things, but I could see it), but a youth camp?

As Forrest Gump might say, crazy is as crazy does. You're trying to apply reason to a completely unreasonable situation.
