Pete
I am setting up a new network and when I go to the linksys default setup address http://192.168.1.1/ I keep getting the message "this page cannot be displayed". I am connected to the internet- what could be the problem? Is there an alternate linksys router setup page? I keep walking away from computer, coming back, and still have the same problem. Thanks in advance for any help
DrDawkinstein
hmmm, off the top of my head.. are you sure it's address is 192.168.1.1? Is that what it has listed as the gateway in your ip settings? If so, maybe try https://, just a shot in the dark. another one would be, do you have a wireless router you also connect through that might be handing out a different subnet? I tried https:// and that didn't work either. The setup guides I am reading all give http://192.168.1.1/ as linksys address and I am having a hard time finding alternate address. I have set this router up before for a network. And I don't think there is another network around. I just moved in to new place in woods, but have two neighbors. Perhaps they have a network that is making it difficult. Thanks Doctor! Edited July 1, 2011 by Pete
Fezmid
Have you tried hardwiring your laptop to the router for the initial setup? That's usually required (or at least was a few years ago).

That might be it. It is an older dell laptop. Right now I have a cable modem connected to router which is connected to laptop and I am trying to network rest of house. I just can't get to linksys setup pageu. Is that setup what you mean by hardwired Fezmid? Thanks Computer hell for me tonight to. Earlier I setup my entertainment setup and my computer is not recognizing keyboard. Then a girl gave me her old computer which I was counting on running network- and when I set it up I got the blue screen of death. I tried to restart in safe mode and got keyboard failure. Now I having issues with linksys page. Man I tell you nothing in life is easy lol

Thanks in advance for any help it didn't come with CD that helps you connect to it directly with linksys software? Netgear has a program included thatdoes this, which is really handy to have. hardwire to your router and check linksys' site for options, maybe there is an update to the driver or firmware in the router?
