Ramius
I'm just giving a LAMP and props to my graduate alma mater, FSU, for having players selected in round 1 in the NFL (Christian Ponder, #12 to Minnesota), MLB (Sean Gilmartin, #28 to Atlanta), and NBA (Chris Singleton, #18 to Washington) drafts all in the same calendar year. I'm sure this has happened before at other schools, but probably not very often. Lets go 'Noles! Props to them for having 3 very good programs. UConn James
We had two first-rounders in the MLB draft (19th and high 20s for two pitchers, iirc) from a team that's surprised a lot of people the last two years; they just lost in the College World Series playoffs to probable champ S. Carolina. Kemba Walker went #9 last night in the NBA draft. Perennial first-rounders. But UConn football, despite having their most successful season in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Oklahoma, didn't have a player selected this year until, I believe, the fifth round. But we've had a couple first-rounders in the program's 10 years in D-I. And, if you count the WNBA.... Fuhgeddaboudit. I actually sat with ~ half the women's team in a French gen-ed, and sat next to Sue Bird. She's pretty cool.
