KD in CA
Well I am just outraged that government could exhibit such hubris in disregarding individual rights. But I think it's a great idea to have government in charge of a multi billion dollar health care system and for them to have the power to imprison people for choosing to not purchase health insurance. Wacka
These boxes are called Knox boxes here in CA and must be installed before getting a certificate of operation. Only the Fire Department has the code or key and I have never heard of anyone from a FD breaking in using the knox box. Wait till their insurance shoots up because of false alarms where the FD had to break in.

Nanker
I'm not Hogboy, but I wonder how often an urban fire department arrives on the scene of a fire when it is or about to become a raging inferno versus the percentage of times they're called because someone smells smoke. What is the compelling need for the Fire/Police Departments to have access to a key to every bank, jewelry store, porn shop and grocery in town? Workmen's Comp insurance premiums going through the roof there in Cedar Falls from dislocated shoulders, cuts, and bruised forearms caused by on the job injuries from beating down doors and smashing windows to gain entry? If I were forced to put a key to my house in a lock box on the outside of my house, I'd first embed it in feces.

They are wired to a store's security system and only the FD has a key. I don't like it, but I was forced to add a box to 3-4 stores that I assist in managing over the past 3 years.
