McBeane Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 There's a huge difference between being pouting and throwing a temper tantrum. He was clearly doing the latter with his constant huffing and puffing and crossing his arms being all pissed off. The kid was being a brat, and a well behaved child would never act like that. In this country we don't give kids enough credit. This feeds into the "let them do whatever they want" mentality. When my wife and I were in London in 2002, those kids were all VERY well behaved. They were taking in culture in the museums, having respectful fun in the wax museum, etc. Fast forward to our trip to Washington, DC, and all of the kids (same age range) were being obnoxious twits. I firmly believe that it's a cultural thing; many parents put their kids on a pedestal and it shows. I'm pretty sure you just mixed up the last two articles posted. The Giants kid was the one throwing a temper tantrum, the Brewers/Diamondbacks kid was just disappointed because he dropped the ball tossed to him. Unless that is what you meant and I just confused everything up myself...

The second article (where the kid gives the other kid a baseball) was referencing the first article (where the kid was having a tantrum for not getting a ball) and said we can't expect kids to behave.

All the kid does is pout. I agree with you in general, in that kids are way too spoiled. In this specific case, he pouts, dad nudges him telling him to get over it. I simply disagree with your take on this.

But he was acting that way for a good 4-5 minutes! That's a tantrum.

Took years to get my son to act right. At that age he would have pouted in similar circumstances. I think the dad acted properly and the kid was being a kid. Just my take and my son is about to start driving.

Fez, if you think that is a tantrum then you either dont have kids, or have VERY chill, well behaved kids. Because if that were a real tantrum, no one sitting around the kid wouldve been able to enjoy the game like they were.
