Buftex Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) somebody tell what i should think about him.. this situation.. have no clue.. I got my heart set on T-Pegs...this guy is a Buffalo kid, by his business backround makes me nervous...I would trust that fracker with my team, before some Wall Street guy... Phlegm Alley Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 He is a Buffalo guy and acknowledges that there isn't a huge growth opportunity for investment and that his sole reason for doing something like this would be because he loves the Bills. What isn't to like about something like this?

Phlegm Alley Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 it is because i didnt see anything about his "wanting to keep the team in buffalo". i hope that statement turns up! I think it is assumed he would. I don't think a guy who loves the Bills and is a Buffalo guy himself would buy the team only to move them elsewhere.

He sounds great but ... he is Los Angeles' based plus when you read his bio including the issues revolving around his departure from TCW and his alleged temper you being to ask questions. However he has the money and if he commits to Buffalo ... and isn't worried about having to make money with the team then he might be a good option once Ralph moves on to the football owners' box in the sky.

Yup, not sure the NFL will find his porn and weed stash as amusing as I do: http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2010/03/jeffrey_gundlach_loves_bonds_p.html
Turbosrrgood Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Several reasons not to trust this guy... 1)While his ties to Buffalo are good I suppose, he is based out of L.A...The most likely landing spot if the Bills are moved. He could very well be using his "Buffalo ties" to secure a deal with less opposition, and maybe even some local support...Only to make a killing taking the franchise to L.A....Speculation of course 2)This guy is a "high profile bond-fund manager"...I don't see a guy like this, based out of L.A. buying and keeping a team in Buffalo, even though he admits there is "limited room for growth". Sorry, I don't buy that an accomplished banker is going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars just because "he is a fan", and not try to turn a big profit. Thomas Golisano is probably our best bet, or some sort of LOCAL consortium. I just get the feeling this guy is using his Buffalo ties to help him make a buck...Like someone else said, he made no mention of a desire to keep the team in Buffalo.
Scrappy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 This is what's important: Gundlach said that "it's not an investment. It's because I love the Bills."

The same Thomas Golisano that is based out of FL & has owned multiple mansions there? Does this mean he is still local, especially after selling the Amerks / Sabres to cut ties with Buffalo ??
Canadian Bills Fan Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Sure he says he wants to keep the Bills in Buffalo but what about the other owners?
Turbosrrgood Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 This is what's important: Gundlach said that "it's not an investment. It's because I love the Bills." Notice he didn't say Buffalo Bills...
Scrappy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Notice he didn't say Buffalo Bills... LOL, witty. As Yoda would say: Motives alternative I see you have.

Does this mean he is still local, especially after selling the Amerks / Sabres to cut ties with Buffalo ?? He never owned the Amerks. Anyway, he's as local as Pegula. They don't live here but do have emotional ties to the area.

Does this mean he is still local, especially after selling the Amerks / Sabres to cut ties with Buffalo ?? I knew someone was going to say that, and it is a reasonable point...The main difference is that Golisano publicly expressed a strong desire to keep the Bills in Buffalo. In my naturally pessimistic opinion though, the chances of being able to keep the Bills in Buffalo seem to be against us at this point...Please let me be incredibly wrong... BuffaloRebound Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Why would a person with Buffalo ties buy the Bills and move them? Interesting that this is coming out now. Maybe Ralph doesn't think he has much time left and is getting the word out.

Maybe Ralph doesn't think he has much time left and is getting the word out. The almighty buck....hundreds of millions on the line... He also lives in L.A....If he is such a big fan of the Bills maybe he wants to watch them closer to home.... All baseless theories of course, I could be completely wrong (and hope I am).
