Spiderweb Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I've read from multiple sources on the internet, that donald trump is a bills fan. Find it hard to billieve, and more likely he maintains a friendship with jimbo for playing in his usfl. Anyways, now that he is not running for president any chance he puts in a bid to buy the bills and keep them in buffalo, just to prove what a smart business man he is. Imagine how much is ego would inflate if he ran a profitable and successful NFL franchise in Buffalo, which is NYs only team. With respect to the Bills ownership, the only thing Trump could do to keep me happy is to walk away like he just did with his Presidential ambitions. The man is a turd, well shined (not polished), but a turd none the less.
Marv's Neighbor Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I feel better now! Since everybody on the Board is always talking about Ralph's age, chances are Donald has seen his Birth Certificate , has already calculated the date, and we may have a Deal! I'd love to see him Fire Toronto!

As much as it was a great investment in hindsight for a guy like Ralph 50 years ago, the cost to buy a team is ENORMOUS now. There are other ways to invest dollars and get bigger returns. Trump did want an NFL team, I believe that. But he wanted to buy in on the cheap by getting his NJ Generals team merged into the NFL the way the AFL owners induced a the AFL/NFL merger. Even if he did want to buy in, it remains to be seen if the NFL owners would have him knowing how he schemed to get into the NFL on the cheap and the lawsuit that he lead against the NFL on behalf of the USFL.
Pirate Angel Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Trump would try and out do Jerry Jones' marketing the team, that certainly would be impressive if he where to do that with the Bills.
Webster Guy Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) My link[/url] Warren Buffet has been on the record as wanting nothing to do with pro sports. I believe he described owning a sports franchise as an incredible waste of money. You are completely mistaken. Buffet is a value buyer whose success is precisely that he DOESN'T limit his vision to specific markets. He's bought candy makers and train companies in the same year. Snyder bought the skins for $750M twelve years ago and its DOUBLED in value. NFL owners return on investments have been extremely strong. I think Jerry Jones paid around $150M for the Cowboys. http://www.businessinsider.com/how-much-did-nfl-owners-paid-for-their-teams-2010-10 The other thing he has shown is that he believes in community assets. He has said that divesting the Buffalo News from his Washington Post division would probably make sense because of it's weak financial status but he will keep it because he believes its valuable to the community. Bottom line, he is the kind of investor that has the weight and values to be involved in the Bills succession plans. Too bad Ralph doesn't reach out to a guy like that. He could alleviate so much worry and stress by simply communicating that he has a plan to keep them here. He seems so nice and folksy in interviews, and has a great reputation as a solid boss, but he's lost my respect in the handling of his estate and this community asset that we ALL have contributed to as taxpayers and fans.
