San Jose Bills Fan Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) Nick pickup by ProFootballTalk…an interview on the Colts' website with Bill Polian. It's pretty comprehensive and in-depth and it sheds some light into Polian's organizational beliefs. http://www.colts.com...b1-8fae5564c382 "If you hit on four players who contribute to winning in every draft, you're usually going to end up in the playoffs and be pretty successful." Also, Bill Polian emphasized, "You can't judge a player's performance until at least three years have passed, especially at the position of quarterback or offensive and defensive line. The change in technique, the change in difficulty of the position, the change in the length of the season, the ferocity of the hitting -- all of that makes it very difficult for those players to come in and play," he said. And Chris Polian: "The more you go through it, everything keeps coming back to Branch Rickey and the Dodgers," Chris Polian said. "Evaluate your own players first. You know what your players can and can't do. You put them in a position to maximize their strengths and hopefully alleviate their weaknesses a little bit." Edited May 13, 2011 by San Jose Bills Fan
BuffaloBill Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 SJBF thanks for posting This article confirms my belief that the current Bills regime is on the correct track. I know fans tend to want to pursue the big name free agents but Polian points out the fact that the draft is far more critical. Of douse it helps that the Colts have an all world QB .... One does have to owner they would be if Peyton was a bust. Back to the point.... Splashy moves will not build your team for the long haul.
