The Poojer Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Here's hoping that postal workers are forced to work EXTRA hard this weekend. This drive really helps communities, and its one where 100%(for the most part) of the donations are used for those that need it, no administrative costs get funneled somewhere else. Also with this, foodbanks will need volunteers to stock the shelves...try to help out, not only this weekend.
UConn James Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 A nuclear family member is a relief (Saturday) carrier and has said that in the several years they've done this, he's picked up one can of peas. That's it.
The Poojer Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 If one can of peas is all someone is able/willing to give, its a can of peas someone that might not otherwise would be able to eat. I try and shop for dried rice, beans, tuna and peanut butter and leave that. The cost of those items is minimal, but they can feed a family for a few days. Nanker Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 It's good to give. Be as generous as you can. Even a little can mean a lot to people with nothing.
BB27 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Lets just hope that the postal service is better at delivering the food to the needy than they are at delivering the mail to my neighborhood.....
