He's dead, no need to spike the football.

Honestly i think its more of a demoralizing blow to Al-queda. In one night we killed their leader and dumped him in the ocean, never to be seen again. Imagine If Kennedy was shot and dumped in the ocean? How demoralizing would that have been?

This is absolutely the right move IMO

a lot of the families of the dead (9/11 and the wars) do not trust the government. the photo would not only provide proof that he is indeed dead but would settle requisite balance involved in justice: i saw my friends die in nyc, my child die in the war so you better believe i want to see proof that the man responsible for my losses is dead.

Seeing a picture isn't proof - you could easily believe that the picture's a fake. Many will. And why would anyone who doesn't trust the government suddenly decide to trust a government-provided photo?

All it is, is a salacious response to the desire for revenge that you harbor. Not that there's anything wrong with that (the desire for revenge, that is.) But you could at least be honest and call it what it is. If it's proof you want, you won't get it from a picture.

This guy ran on a platform of greater openness, access and transparency, yet he decides to withhold pics of the most despised person in the us in at least 70 years? Seems like a majority want the images releasesd so in the spirit of democracy he should release them. Anyone doesn't want to see can choose not to. Ulimately it was the will of the american people who got him anyway. So come on bud, show us what we got?

First, we live in a democratic republic, not a democracy.

Second, you're really okay with mob rule?

Third...you believed his platform for a second?

Do you actually believe the bull **** you post?

"Greater openness" does not mean that anything 50% or more of the public wants to see is released.

The photo would become ubiquitous. Everyone would see it eventually. Whether it's published in papers, used in avatars, hung on dartboards, etc. Everyone would see it. The second it's out there, the toothpaste would be out of the tube and its use would be uncontrolled.

So no more war reporting either? It's all just "trust us". So much for democratic values and free press.

Its not like they are saying don't show this picture or question us. They are keeping it in house. I am fine with that.

This is coming from a kid who really thinks the Feds should be totally reorganized too and thinks they have it real F-ed in DC right now. But a Champion doesnt gloat and neither should we

No need to see them; publishing them is nothing more than salacious pandering to the selfish masses who are so immature and stunted they can't live without the shock value.

Your right there is no real need to see them. I just look at it as a freedom of info kind of thing. There is nothing classified about the pic. I kind of resent Obama and his handlers yet again lecturing on what is good for us. Although I may be immature, I really don't like shock value. I especially don't like seeing images of brutality or death. For example someone posted the video of the karate guy killing someone. Made me sad and sick at the same time. However in this case I do like the idea of vengeance. Seeing his caved in skull would be heartwarming.

Per the verbal description, the left side of his skull was blown off. As I wrote above, everyone would see it, whether they want to or not; there's no stopping its distribution once it's released. We don't need this photo in the national consciousness.
